I think those last two frames look like she was pretty startled hearing the phrase that Onii-san once used said by the girl that slightly reminded her of Onii-san before. I don’t know about before, and I might be wrong, but I’d say that with this she might have suspicions going forward.

I’m catching up and I’m definitely not stopping here today, haha.

What does 男として mean here? Something about her looking like a man?

男として is referring to him - he just gushed over how cool she was, and he’s saying that was just genuine praise from him as a man. I believe the translated manga calls it “manly praise”. として establishes the “viewpoint” as it were - genuine praise from the viewpoint of a man.

It’s… not much of a compliment to give a girl, I guess, even if he does mean it as such :joy: But I guess he’s just clarifying that he’s not hitting on her or anything, he just thinks she’s cool.
