The entire segment around Monica saying 奥様のご懐妊、おめでとうございます was so funny.
Felix was being a little weirdo for insisting he braid Monica’s hair, but also Monica is so naive. By being convinced to allow him, but also with 王子様というのは三つ編みも完璧にできないといけないらしい.
Those all the only notes I left to comment from when I read this two weeks ago.
I also read ahead and also didn’t take many notes.
Epilogue
The one thing that stuck out to me is that Cyril clearly already suspects her of being the hooded figure he fought with in the woods. Wonder how many more books it’s going to take until he gets confirmation.
Tbf, Felix does seem like the type who’s agressively perfect at everything he does.
Well it took me almost the entire year (boy did I delay this a lot once I got derailed) but I have finished up to and including the epilogue.
Summary
Overall I liked it ok. I found it too challenging at first, but after enough studying it was easier to finish later on. Like others I was a bit disappointed that there was so little of Isabel, that there was so much focus on bullying as a conflict point. I was so excited after the first chapter because it was a fantasy setting, but I felt like so little of the actual story was really based around that - only at the end did the magic really seem to matter otherwise it could have been just a school mystery novel.
Also I just wanted to see more about the dragons.
I think I would like this much more as an anime than reading it, so I don’t have a strong desire to read the atogaki. I think I’ll call it as done here. It still counts as finishing the book if I don’t read that, right? Plus if I’m going to read a series, I have like 6 volumes of Bookworm waiting for me already.
I was finally able to watch the anime (with JP subtitles) a couple of weeks ago and I liked it a lot. The first few episodes tracked the book club book, so I understood a lot of the story. I understood a lot less of stories in the later episodes. What I liked about the anime versus the book was that Monica didn’t seem as bullied. Although she was still timid and nervous, it was in a funny way. And I loved Nero!
