Chapter thoughts

Not a lot of notes compared to last time. I guess not enough Monica/Prince time, haha. Maybe we’ll get some next chapter!

Mhm. With how things stand, wouldn’t that just make it look like she is being bullied by Lana and covers for her out of fear?

Week 10

Didn’t expect the investigation to take only a single chapter. Pity this ended on the mother of all cliffhangers. I might need to read ahead.

That’s certainly a possibility. I’m very curious to hear how Cyril reacted, because it all depends on him (well, maybe also on Selma, if she’s willing to publicly confront Caroline). I hope we’ll find out next chapter, this is quite a cliffhanger as well. Judging from his courteous behavior towards Monica, it seems like Cyril is not a snob like Elliott, so there’s hope he won’t automatically discount Lana’s words just because she’s of lower status. And he might already know that Caroline and her cronies are serial bullies.

Speaking of Cyril, (I hope I understood this right) it seems like his skin is cold, because he’s leaking ice magic even when he’s not chanting. I wonder if this is potentially dangerous and might become a problem for him in the future, seeing as the last chapter mentioned that magical residue can be harmful to humans.

I’m officially caught up! Aaaand, now reading ahead. See you all at the end!

That cliffhanger just got me and I had to keep reading. Plus, considering I just caught up in a few weeks, I’m not about to wait 9-10 weeks to read the rest.

Not sure there was a point in catching up, then, if you’re not going to read with the club - but I’m glad you are enjoying the book :laughing:

Haha yes, and that is completely fair. I just don’t generally read multiple Japanese books at a time and I’m not even sure what I would read. The only other series on my radar is 転生王女と天才令嬢の魔法革命 | L32, but that’s also a female protagonist fantasy series, so I don’t want to read two of those at the same time. Besides that I could jump back into a harder book like 魔法少女育成計画 QUEENS | L36, that’s a lot of work. :see_no_evil: So then I could just read manga and some books in English I guess.

Anyway, we’ll see. I don’t really like splitting chapters (though it makes total sense for the club of course), but maybe I’ll stop at the end of chapter 7 for a bit and decide from there.

chapter six

That was the chapter I was waiting for! Monica sleuthing around while having to use her talents and deep magical knowledge to help her but having to hide her true “power level” from the people around her! The awkward budding friendship with Lana is heartwarming too.

I have to note however that once again the author’s go-to when they want to create complications is to add a bullying scene. It’s insane how many of those we’ve had so far. A new bully and a new victim this time! At least it’s fresh.
