In this week’s reading we learn that it is not always enviable to have magical talents. Cyril’s “coolness” is not how he wants to be but a sheer necessity to survive.
I’m glad it took me all week to finish the reading, otherwise the cliffhanger would be killing me!
I really appreciate that Cyril sees himself as being in competition with his adoptive little sister. A less feminist person would just dismiss her for being “a girl”. So even though it’s causing him a lot of pain, I appreciate this about him.
Also, I’m betting that this sudden and unusually intense reaction of his has something to do with an interaction between his condition and the mind magic that he’s unaware has been cast on him.
Reading this week was kind of put on the back burner, so it took a while to read this a page a day, but I finally finished. And not too soon, considering the next thread is already up!

Same. Though I’m with Nero…if I were Monica, I’d also be pissed that he’s chilling at home with his wife after sending her to do his dirty work.
Also, it’s kind of striking how afraid Monica is of Louis. She gets flashbacks to him yelling at her at every opportunity. If this were a more of a real world scenario I’d be worried for his future kids. Glad to hear that working with Cyril is less scary for her…because he explains the tasks he wants her to do instead of just sniping (come on Louis, that’s a really low bar )
