hi everyone! I’ve been on Migaku academy to up vocab and loving their flashcard style (keyword, sentence + audio of that sentence).
Wanikani has example sentences but I find A) they are buried and B) there’s no audio.
I’m dreaming of some kind of user script where I get the vocab audio, and then that vocab in a sentence with the audio. Does anyone know of such a thing?
THANK YAA
i know there’s media context sentences, but it has a number of issues
.- sometimes the given sentence doesn’t actually match up with what’s being said
.- a lot of the time it gives a word with similar pronunciation but means something else entirely
– this can possibly be mitigated by selecting the option to only show exact matches, but then you run into the next problem more often
.- sometimes there just aren’t any examples for the vocab
that said, i still find it useful and in fact have the default sentences hidden by css
I have a long commute every day and was finding it hard to keep up with wanikani, so I built an audio-only tool so I can learn new vocab while I commute. It’s 2 way so it listens and understands what you’re saying. It teaches you the word, quizes you, gives you example sentences, fill in the blank, and then makes you craft an original sentence with the word. It’s free if you want to use it, right now, it’s just me. I recently thought about making it available to others, so added in an email login. I also have my wife, who is Japanese, reviewing all the words and sentences. It’s slow going, but we’ll get it totally accurate eventually. https://kotobaapp.com/ Enjoy!
