Wanikani not sending password reset email

Had been noticing some odd behaviour in my sessions of late… and reset password successfully. However after the same issues came up again just after doing so (inability to click on footnotes, session freezing w/ WK becoming unresponsive), decided to reset password again. Same issues. Resetting again… now not sending email.

Perhaps we have a security issue, unless there’s a simple answer I’m not aware of.

Probably asking the obvious, but you’ve checked your spam folder, yeah?

Yes – previous two attempts got thru just fine, nothing in the spam folder.

Not sure if I’m missing something but I don’t see how resetting your password would help with issues during your sessions? Wouldn’t that be more related to your device, browser, settings, extensions, etc.?

Either way, I’ve had issues on other places before where it just took some time for the emails to get through, so perhaps it just took longer or works again when trying later?

Do you perhaps have any scripts or add-ons installed that could be causing the issues? I would suggest trying WaniKani in a private window to see if the issues continue as if they don’t, it could indicate that you either have some caching issues or perhaps a broken script is interfering.

No, have been running WK in a browser that’s pretty sparse for add-ons or scripts, and have for years now… doubt that’s what happened.

Scenario is, everything were working fine. Changed password. WK, and not any other site, began to show strange behaviour as mentioned above. Reset again; issue resolved for a few hrs. Then same issues, only on WK. Reset again to see what would happen; now get error that says ‘reset token invalid’. Posted here.

Ok thanks for the clarification. I suspect WaniKani’s performance being affected by the password reset is simply a coincidence as I can’t really see how the two could be linked, although it does make me wonder, perhaps you could try clearing your cache to see if the performance issues improve?

I think the ‘reset token invalid’ message was prompted as you attempted too many password resets in a given period. If it has been 24 hours since your last password, I believe it should work again, if you need to change it.

For now I would suggest trying to clear your cache and I would also suggest trying WaniKani in either a private window or a separate browser to see if you’re getting the same issues. If at this point, you are still experiencing issues, let us know and we’ll look into this further.

Have been doing the usual Tier 1 stuff to solve; none of it works, as my browser isn’t the entity sending the denial to reset. Which is why I’ve bothered to post here.

But thanks for response Nico, appreciated. That’s what I wanted to confirm: if there’re a limited amt of password resets WK permits, and in what timeframe. Again, thanks.

This may be related (or not) but I haven’t received the “congrats, leveled up” email after leveling up yet. I think I received that almost immediately every time.
