Hey guys! I was just wondering if anybody else is having problems with their WaniKani app ? I didn’t even realize it was a 3rd party app until I looked at the threads here, but it doesn’t mention anything about people having issues recently. I haven’t been able to use it for a few weeks and I tried uninstalling and re-installing on my android phone but I can’t seem to get my reviews to load on it. The rest of the app seems to work just fine. It’s not a huge deal if I can’t fix it, I can still do my reviews on my laptop, I just really liked the convenience of doing them on my break at work or when I’m out of town without my laptop.
If someone else had a problem with it and knows how to fix it, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks for your time!
There are two (Android) apps:
WaniKani: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tr.xip.wanikani&hl=en
WaniKani Mobile: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wanikani.androidnotifier&hl=en
I’ve used WaniKani Mobile for reviews a few days ago… no problems. I’ve never tried the other app.
Uninstalling the app may not of cleared it’s cache, so if you can find that in the app options, that may be worth a shot? Programmers not cleaning up user data, blah.
That’s the first thing that I tried, cleared the cache, when that didn’t work, uninstalled and re-installed. Thanks tho for the replies! I might try the other app now that I know there is one. I just really liked the one I was using lol.
This is the one that I use anyway ( thanks for posting the links! ):

Is there an iPhone app?
I’ve had the same problem for the past few weeks and was wondering as well why no one appeared to have problems with it.
I can’t even go to wanikani website in the mobile browser. I keep getting the “something went wrong, refresh?” screen (both in the app and in mobile browser).

If you have an older one you downloaded you are in luck, otherwise you wont get any help here. :(PatrickDNR said... gregorspv said...That certainly was worth a shot but it doesn't work either. When you open the program it prompts for credentials and after you enter them, it closes right away. I think you could also jailbreak, but the same issue will occur since the source file came from a different phone. It probably is looking for the original credentials.Timwizard said...You can probably install with with iFunBox or PP助手. Or just JB, you knowgregorspv said...May want to disregard his post. @greg
The problem isnt the installation, it installs just fine. It doesnt launch the app fully without closing again. I am using a IPA called WaniKani 4.0.1.ipa downloaded from someone’s dropbox. It could also be a bad file, I am not entirely sure.
I’m using WaniKani Mobile on an Android platform. I’m having issues w/ the WK keyboard not responding and my keyboard popping up when I want to use the WK keyboard or view WK answers to my wrong answers.
Should I just stick w/ the web-based app? No problems there, but smaller.
WaniKani Mobile stopped working for me as soon as I hit level 52. Now it crashes on startup. The other Wanikani app seems to still work though. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to have a way to get to the forums.

The app has an embedded IME, so romaji gets translated into kana automatically when entering readings.

Perhaps your app is trying to do some processing with the radicals and is not built for a null case?BreadstickNinja said... WaniKani Mobile stopped working for me as soon as I hit level 52. Just wanted to report that I’m getting a crash as soon as I open the app as well, right after getting to 52.
