The onomatopoeia thread! 💥 🗯

ぶつぶつ

陽向も俺も同じ新入部員なのに、とぶつぶつ言いつつも『陽向先輩』と言い直したのだけど。

Though he grumbled that he and Hinata had both joined the club at the same time, he did correct himself to “Hinata-senpai.”

オロオロ

ホッと

先発ピッチャーは2点目が入ったところでオロオロし始め、みっつ目のアウトをとったときは心底ホッとした顔をしていた。

The starting pitcher started to grow flustered after the second point was scored off of him, and when he got the third strike, he was visibly greatly relieved.

I’m searching for an omomatopeia in my list (here) but can’t find anyone that matches what I want.

I’d like an onomatopeia for the exagerated high pitch sound made by girls/women when they see their idol (a very high pitch ‘aaaah’). What would be the Japanese onomatopeia for that ? Even knowing the word for this in English would help me find the correct one in my list.

There’s きゃー, and also きゃっきゃっ (with or without the final っ)

きゃー I’ve seen all the time in manga and sometimes in novels too (in speech) and is how you write the squeal itself. きゃっきゃ I only recall seeing in prose, and it describes that there is squealing going on rather than is the squeal itself, if that makes sense

(At least, I’m pretty sure)
