I just came across an interesting website which calls itself オノマトペ辞典 and I thought it may be of interest.
You can search by あいうえお order or by category (or using the search box). It’s all in Japanese so probably more of a resource for intermediate+ learners. It’s probably not exhaustive, but as a visual learner, I love how it illustrates the sounds. This is a screenshot from the homepage.
This is a pretty extensive source. The pictures and the definitions surely help to understand the abstract nature of onomatopoeic words in Japanese.
