The listing says volume 3 is the standard edition.
So I have no idea what the sixth volume is supposed to be.

Since I already have 2 vols the set is actually worse value than just buying the books individually lol.
I guess they’re meant for the 0-y time period books to entice you instead of my practice of actually buying vol 1s (on sale usually), which alas devalues the set. But in my defence, I can’t read! (Yet)

All volumes of the 薬屋のひとりごと light novel seem to be free for a few more hours (for all of August 29, but keep in mind the time difference). Two volumes of the manga are also free.

One thing that just randomly caught my eye is that the first 7 volumes of Made in Abyss (the manga) are free until Sept 12th, and more importantly on sale for 11 Yen each with an extra 40% coinback.

High amount of sales and coin promotions at the moment (although the free book script output is very low, presumably since it’s the end of the month) but I’m trying to avoid spending money at the moment and other people have posted some highlights so I’ll mostly leave it to you to discover things, but one I’ll point out is cheap Kadokawa sales including <100 yen Haruhi light novels and manga (～9/5 (木)まで) and Sgt. One thing that doesn’t seem to be on the list is that the first part of とんがり帽子のアトリエ is free until the 4th (and the rest seems to be benefitting from some sort of 40% coinup till tomorrow). So if you’ve been thinking about catching up to the offshoot club for the first and easiert IMC pick, you can do so cheaply and join us as we’re just starting on volume 4!

Yep, the script only picks up books that are free to keep permanently - rather than ones temporarily free to read for a limited time that deactivate from your library when that time is up. (the ones that are free to keep are, naturally but disappointingly, generally significantly less exciting than the temporarily free to read ones).
The tip-off that in this case it’s the latter is the 【期間限定 無料お試し版】(~ “limited time free trial edition”) in the store entry name, and these which appear under every ‘put in cart’ button:
販売期限 2024/9/4 23:59まで
閲覧期限 2024/9/4 23:59まで
indicating here that you may purchase this edition through September 4th, but you also can only read it through September 4th. So those going that route to catch up may need to hurry! or capture the content before it goes away.
No worries about posting it though as it is still potentially useful for people to know about - I just like to be extra extra clear and give this whole spiel about the difference every time it comes up, since I remember the disappointing feeling of being new to bookwalker and navigating Japanese websites in general, and realizing belatedly that this kind of freebie wasn’t the same as the permanent ones!

Oh, I never noticed that the script doesn’t include temporary freebies and now I feel dumb.
No need to feel dumb! I don’t know what the original reasoning was for the script being that way, but anecdotally the limited-time ones may be too plentiful to as-easily collate (and personally speaking I prefer library-hoarding over streaming-service type temporary availability too much to ever make much use out of them). Sorry if the difference-explaining spiel was superfluous, I just like to be on the safe side with that one.

The first two volumes of Frieren are free to read until the 19th. Might be interesting to people who want to catch up with the Frieren BBC offshoot. Same for the first 6 volumes of Detective Conan.
As for non-free stuff, there’s a sale from TO books going on until the 9th, so I’m afraid I have to pimp Ascendance of a Bookworm again. The first LN and the first manga volume for each arc (e.g. Arc 2) are on sale for 99 Yen, and all the rest are 30% off and have 50% coin bonus. This time, they included all the manga, the LN for Arcs 1-4 and the Junior Bunko version (same text but with furigana and more illustrations, but split into more volumes) of the LN in the sale.
