For me to be into a story I have to either find a character I really like and care about or identify with somehow. Didn’t really happen with shadows house and felt like a long slog that I’m like why do I even care about these people in this mystery world. Similar kind of thing with another of the bookclub books. Finished the 1st vol but no desire to pick up the next. But that was just me, so for now it will sit and wait until I’m motivated to pick it up again. Also have so many other things I should read, there is no lack of books that haven’t even been started
like the moto series (vol 2 is on the desk but not started)
This week, let’s watch the 夕日 with Takagi-san and Nishikata!
- I will be reading along!
- I’ve already read it!
- I will catch up later!
- I won’t be reading (anymore)
Let’s have some delicious グリコ snacks with Takagi-san and Nishikata in our final week of Volume 13!

look forward to people’s thoughts on the “game”
why the flavors?
Rules, for those unfamiliar:
The players play rock, paper, scissors, typically on stairs.
If you win with rock (グー), you move three steps while saying グリコ (one syllable, one step).
If you win with scissors (チョキ), you move seven six steps while saying チョコレート.

If you win with paper (パー), you move seven six steps, saying パイナツプル.

You can use a rule variation where the same word cannot be used twice, so each time, you need to pick a new word that begins with ぐ, ち, or ぱ (based on the winning hand).
This is advantageous if you know long words.

But if can you only think of short words...

was hoping someone would explain this, was so confused thinking reading ahead yeah, but couldn’t ask cuz it was too far ahead ![]()
thanks for explaining this ![]()
It helps that I’d encountered it before =D
But the name of the game, グリコ, wasn’t mentioned in the Yukari chapter, so I was a bit lost at the time (with Mina explaining the rule variation, assuming readers know the main game).
Then I had to go back and find that chapter from Yukari and re-read it with a more proper understanding.
sure that many people will be happy for the explanation
I find it funny that no matter what happened, Takagi would get what she wanted by picking scissors. Either she loses and gets a kiss, or she wins and can pull the stunt that she did.
Is everyone ready for Volume 14?
