I’m just old enough not to be familiar with Carey in the role.

I had a lot of fun reading this chapter. The game is not possible in Turkey, though. Prices change daily, sometimes up to 3 times a day.

Ah, American culture
Me who feels out of the loop:

We need our own Bob Barker and Drew Carey

This is what I was referencing.

Hopefully these aren’t region-restricted:

“Older Bob Barker” episode:

(That commercial at 48:02 sure takes me back!)

I didn’t get to this week’s chapter yet to see what price prank may be going on, but I did watch The Price is Right often when visiting my grandmother every summer and winter as a youth.

I really enjoyed it! Nishikata is always so sweet when there are animals involved.

Let’s see what Nishikata is forgetting this week with 濘れもぼ

Are you planning on reading with us this week?
  • I will be reading along!
  • I’ve already read it!
  • I will catch up later!
  • I won’t be reading (anymore)

Thanks for indirectly reminding me that the new volume of ă€Œć„œăăȘ歐がめがねを濘れた」 came out last week. I was busy that weekend and something else came up after, so I completely forgot!

Think that one got an anime too!

It did, but I’ve found that for some series, an anime adaptation just doesn’t work very well. That would be my expectation for this one, but I could be wrong. (I tried to find if there was any legal way I could watch it, but no luck.)

I watched some of the previews, and the voices for the two main characters just don’t sound right to me

On topic: I wonder what I’d think of the voices in the Takagi-san anime.

Personally, I love them. They feel perfect to me.

But I also have a strong bias for Takahashi Rie. :joy:

Me looking at a list of anime Takahashi Rie has been in:

"Don’t know this one.

"Don’t know this one.

"Ah, this is
no, don’t know it.

"Don’t know this one.

"Don’t know this one.

"Finally, School-Live! is one I know. But I don’t recall this character’s voice

“Nope, don’t know this one (x100)”

I don’t know anything anime post-2015, and know only little post-2010

Haha. She has gotten more popular in recent years, so yeah, you wouldn’t know her very well in that case, but I’m a huge fan of her performances in Konosuba, Re:Zero, and Oshi no Ko.

I haven’t looked into it myself, but I’ve heard from other fans of the manga that they didn’t really like the anime for ć„œăăȘ歐がめがねを濘れた so far.

Regarding the Takagi-san anime, I think it’s great. I might even say it’s better than the manga.

As for this chapter, it’s honestly one of my favorites. It really epitomizes how much Nishikata’s attempts at avoiding teasing tend to amplify it like crazy, such as being caught trying to sneak out or lying about not seeing any couples.

Veering off-topic: ć„œăăȘ歐がめがねを濘れた

One of the preview videos shows a lot of really weird camera angles, distortions, and offputting CG movements. I think I read this is only used in the opening theme portion and/or some between-class transitions. I also read it’s something this studio has done in another anime. (I’m not passing adjustment beyond just this aspect, as it’s the main thing I’ve seen.)

I do know the first two volumes of the manga took a bit for me to get into. Like, I wanted to like the series, but it felt like there was untapped potential that kept me reading with home. For me, it did improve in later volumes to the point I want to keep reading.)

One thing that I expect makes it difficult to translate the manga to anime is that the first one or two volumes has very short chapters. In some cases, you can take multiple chapters and cleanly put them into one episode, but you still need fillers and transitions.

In the team working on the anime can overall come up with something cohesive that people will enjoy, then that’ll be great.

However, if reviews from fans of the source material are lackluster

Now if only watching it didn’t look like:

  • Season 1: Funimation (service I don’t use, although I can watch select time-limited series/episodes in low qualitty through my ISP’s TV app)
  • Season 2: Crunchyroll (service I won’t use) and Netflix (service I’m unlikely to use)
  • Season 3: HIDIVE (service I don’t use)

so what services will you use? hahaha
couldn’t resist

I wouldn’t mind using Funimation or HIDRIVE if they’d have enough I’d watch to be worth whatever the cost is. Likewise, Amazon Prime.

I still have a large backlog of anime on DVD I bought years ago that I haven’t watched yet, so I’m in no rush to pay for a streaming service.

I wouldn’t mind signing up for one service for a single month if I had a plan worked out and scheduled for everything I’d like to watch within that time.

But seeing as I don’t know any anime except for manga adaptations, and for those, in many cases the manga is better

(And then when someone suggests an anime adaptation is worth it, it’s split across three services
)

I mean
even considering Takagi’s mind-reading abilities that put Nishikata in a huge disadvantage, his bad luck of running into Mano-tachi not once, but twice. The poor lad doesn’t have a chance.
