I take things slowly, and usually only do 5-15 lessons every monday, and do my reviews every day. It’s my routine- wake up, do a lesson on duolingo with my first smoke, then use flaming durtles to do my reviews with my next smoke or two.
Yesterday, as I finished up, there was no indication that I’d get over 50 reviews to do today (though bear in mind the app only shows the next 24 hours, but still). It’s a tad much, and I will do it, but does anyone know if it’s a natural alignment of the stars, or if there’s some bug or change that caused this?

50+ reviews is pretty normal for me. I had noticed no bug or change in Wanikani that could cause an increase in review workload. Perhaps your enlightened items are starting to get scheduled for the burn review. When did you get your first burned items?
..first? I’ve been at this for a few years. I burn items almost every day. But my “review load” is usually only 15-30 a day. And as I said, the app gave no warning that there’d be over 50 to do today.
In this case I am afraid I have no clue of what is going on with your reviews.
I notice you use Flaming Durtles. This app is no longer maintained. There is a maintained fork of it call Smouldering Durtles if you want to use a maintained app.

It works, and that’s what matters. It doesn’t need maintenance.
Anyway, after doing the reviews, it does seem that the stars simply aligned. No new items, no weirdness, just an unusually large amount of items syncing up. At least tomorrow will only have 15. A nice easy sunday, though I’m expecting a hangover.

Not even if the design/interfaces/APIs of the system it is integrating with has undergone multiple iterations with many changes?

Not that it addresses your main question, but if you do want some visibility into what your review load looks like more than 24 hours out, the WK web site shows all pending reviews for the next 7 days.
Smouldering Durtles (mentioned above) can be configured to show upcoming reviews for up to 14 days out. The default setting is 24 hours, but it can be configured in the app settings. Flaming Durtles may have the same, or similar setting as well, I am not sure.
If you want a preview even further out the user script Ultimate Timeline can show (configurable) from 1 to 125 days out.

Half of the “bug” reports in this forum:
“My mod-laden/unofficial/abandoned client has stopped working… get your act together and fix this, WK!”
