I took a LONG break from WaniKani. I started over using WaniKani over covid, got caught up with school n life, i restarted from level 15 to level 10. Then hit another stumble with life. I took a Japanese class in college and I’m sparked to do this in my own time again ! I’m happy to be back and continuing this journey.
If anyone has any new API or mobile apps (iPhone) they’d like to share that’d be awesome ! I used to have alot of the script monkey stuff when I was actively learning and I’d love to see what new inventions came out during my time away.
Hey! fun to see that you’re back, there’s an app called Tsurukame which is pretty much wanikani on your phone and you can do your reviews / lessons from your phone! I find it to be super useful if I do a few reviews between sets in the gym or on the bus
Welcome back! I hope that everything goes well this time!
When doing reviews on my phone, I personally use an app called Tsurukame. I prefer to do reviews on my computer when necessary, but I definitely prefer the app over WaniKani’s mobile website!
I have also returned a few days ago (stopped Wanikani in 2021 for similar reasons) and reset from level 9 to 1. Good luck with your progress, and let us not give up this time =)
Levels 1-50 I probably did every level twice. I would get to 20 and reset to 10, get to 30 reset to 20. I noticed the second time around, possibility unsurprisingly, even though I had forgotten them, they were easier to remember. I could possibility consider resetting to 50 and doing 50-60 again but the thought of that makes me want to cry hahaha.
I just posted about this myself! Trying to figure out if resetting to 1 is more beneficial than trying to just start from where I left off. How has everyone’s experience been starting over? Do you find you blow through levels and get right back to where you were? When I was actively doing WK I was cruising! Feels so hard to just pick it back up without that momentum
2 days in on the reset, it allows me to put wanikani back into my daily schdule, easing it in and seeing where it best fits. not only do i feel obligated to finish the 100 reviews and lessons stacked in from a year or so of inactivity. it allows me to try different times and being the completionist that i am. Leaves me satisfied every time. so far i recommend it if you feel a bit overwhelmed where you are.
the easy stuff stays easy, the harder stuff gently comes back into the routine. 10/10
