Around 2 years ago, I reached level 60. Today I am going for a fresh start—at least for a while to see if the passion is rekindled.
My life changed so much that I stepped away from any Japanese learning for these 2 years. Today, I’ve forgotten absolutely everything I had worked so hard for, but since Japanese has always been (and will always be) only a hobby for me, I don’t particularly mind that.
I had fun doing WaniKani the first time around, and if my routine and life priorities allow, I won’t mind doing it another time! I think it has the potential to be even more enjoyable once I realize I can actually remember some of the stuff. And I will definitely keep a very slow pace (I don’t want to stress more than I did the first time).
Because I’ve already reached the WK peak before, I will keep it as a side thing to exercise what’s been lost. I don’t have particular ambitions, so even if I don’t have the steam to continue all the way to level 60 again, that’s fine.

Welcome back! I’m sure what you’ve learned will start coming back as you advanced in your journey - I had a similar experience, even though I dropped Japanese for ~3 years, but now I’m even further then I was before. And, of course, the most important is to enjoy your journey!
