I’m just rejoining wanikani after a good few years away, with a lot of life things happening in between!
My reviews are too hard and too overwhelming- how do I reset to a much lower level?

Click on the user button in the top right (on the WK site, not the forum). Then there should be a section Danger Zone, where you can reset the level!

Welcome back! I’m not sure how much you remember, but before doing a reset I would suggest spending a bit of time just doing reviews from early levels. You can use something like this re-order script, to review all your early level items first. You don’t need to finish all the reviews, just set a goal of X amount of reviews each day and slowly chip away until you’re caught up. Just be wary about doing too many reviews in a day because they’ll quickly stack back up again assuming you’ll get a bunch wrong the first couple passes. Chances are that re-learning items will go a lot quicker this time around. This way you can have more control over your pacing and avoid the time gating. You can also combine this approach with a soft reset if you want a faster way to bring down the srs stages on those items.
