doing this challenge alongside the listening and speak/write everyday challenges. currently working through the satori reader “easier” series. i’m also reading the stories in the reading/writing section of the back of genki ii.
satori reader “easier” stories progress:
short stories: spring
short stories: summer
the jam maker: started! currently on chapter 1.
January 4th!
Chapter 5 of Bloom into you today - finished volume 1!
I’ve enjoyed reading it though I’m not sure I like the unbalanced power dynamic between the two characters so I’m hoping that becomes less pronounced as the story progresses
January 5th!
A chapter of 約束のネバーランド today
January 6th!
Today I read chapter 4 of ひとりぼっちの○○生活, and then started volume 2 of カードキャプターさくらand read the first chapter.

Progressing a bit through 新一星’s collection of short stories.

Officially more than 1/5 through it!
Some stories admittedly leave me a bit puzzled, mostly because they tend to all have some little twist at the end, which maybe I don’t quite get or it leaves me a bit “uh? Wait, that’s it?”
A couple however I really, really liked. There’s also great variety in the situations described.
Wuii, finally started week 2 of book club. The difficulty of the text in this series varies a lot. Sometimes it’s super-easy-to-follow dialogue and sometimes it’s a philosopher’s garden where you don’t know where one path starts and another one ends.
Finished the second chapter of ミステリと言う勿れ. Nothing much to report, excited to start volume 2 of this one. I would say I get about 75% of what’s going on right now. I should stop slacking on Grammar practice. It should be illegal to only have 24 hours per day
Started 付き合う, serious but still light-hearted yuri manga.
I’ve found I can’t really concentrate for hugely long periods of time on a single work (more than half an hour), but I can spread it out over the day, which is nice.
This was a chapter about 選択の廟. On the one hand, it was quite a straight-forward riddle, but on the other hand there were a lot of interesting nuances that are important to the plot. Because I’ve read manga, I know where it is all going, but it is so cool to see how the author prepares the context for the future.
Today was more Dr. Stone, just a little bit left for tomorrow! Also I got an updated notification from Amazon, my new physical books are coming Thursday.
Maybe, we’re still covered in snow here, I’d be surprised if that doesn’t affect deliveries
I am officially beginning a bit late, but I’ll be trying to join for winter reading. Its gonna be basic for me, just working through Satori Reader for now. In order to make sure i dont get super distracted or overwhelmed I’m just gonna keep the tracking in my Study Log. I’ll be swapping between the Spring Series and Yuyu’s Podcast for reading.
Going to make this a weekly thing as I’ve seen others do and just edit my table accordingly.

Thoughts on Jan 6: I’m getting the hang of reading in Spanish! I’ve been reading one chapter a day for the last two days which is surprising cause when I started this last year I could barely do one page a day. Notes on Jan 7: Encountered the word 命がけ which means life and death. Thoughts on Jan 8: Didn’t get to read as much as I wanted cause had to catch up with work! Will read more over the weekend.
I committed to reading one NHK Easy news article or one Satori Reader episode a day. Yesterday, I was only able to read 3 sentences because I was so tired in the evening. Tonight, I’m struggling too. My brain is just tired after work and other daily tasks. Do just a few sentences count as reading for the day?
