Finished two Chapters of 花子と寓話のテラー. Finished Volume 3, one more to go
Started my two weeks off from work yesterday. The day after tomorrow I have one final test that I need to pass at uni, and after that I’m free for 3 months I plan to read as much as possible during these summer holidays. (I’ll still have to go to work of course, but it should be a lot easier to read now that I don’t have to balance both uni and work at the same time)

Really want to start Silent Witch 10 soon, so I decided to get book club reading quickly done and over with. Took me the entire day reading on and off. Now it’s sleep time.
Was trying to figure out how to grade past books last night by looking at the books again, ended up rereading my favorite scenes from the 薬師と魔王 series for close to two hours. Not much grading was done It’s a good slow romance series :3
Either way, conclusion: Regrading is difficult and probably not worth it.
Started Nagatoro 1 (@javerend) and… I don’t hate it? I think the main thing it’s very comfortable at my current level to read. Main girl is definitely a bully and it’s incredibly sad that main dude has been bullied so hard that her bullying is so low tier that it comes off more as affection to him but with very short chapters it’s easy to just popcorn chip away at it.
PS when did discourse start introducing a line break after every link you insert? it keeps screwing my formatting
If I had a nickel for every time a character named Yugo moved to a different country to play a sport, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. (Although their names have a different number of mora even if they can be romanized the same way per some rules. In the manga August Outlaw, the MC 日高悠昂 Hidaka Yuugou has lived in the U.S. since he was 8 and moves to Japan for HS to play baseball. In this, the deuteragonist 川木裕吾 Kawaki Yuugo is moving to Florida in the summer of his last year of HS to play tennis.)
Anyways, I wasn’t really able to sleep last night, so I was too tired to read much more than this today. Hopefully tomorrow.
(Also I just remembered that ヨンケイ!! also wasn’t Media Works. It was Poplar. So this isn’t Amasawa-sensei’s only sports novel that’s a “proper” novel instead of light bungei. I’m not sure they feel any different though tbh)

Leaving for Iceland tonight! Will not be reading any Japanese on my vacation; instead I’m hoping to come home with a few Icelandic phrases. Will get back on the horse next Monday. Have a good week everyone!
I assume that the next arc is about to start as this one is likely done as I just made it past one of Frieren’s iconic scenes featuring a demon and a scale.
I’m not sure if I fully grasped all the magic related explanations in today’s chapters but I think I still understood enough to not get confused by things that may happen in the coming chapters.
I enjoyed the manga overall. Not too long, not too difficult, and I learned about some Japanese urban legends as a side effect.
Not sure what I want to read next, but probably Nekopara. I’m not a huge fan of these “kawaii uwu senpai” visual novels, but the whole collection was on sale on Steam, and I heard it’s good for learning Japanese. It’s also quite short, so I want to give it a go.
Edit: Played Nekopara Volume 0 for around an hour. It’s certainly an experience, but I’m finding lots of new words and I love that it’s voiced. This will probably be the main thing I’ll be reading now.
Finished the thrid essay of the book now, not sure what I think about it yet honestly. But I finally realized again that there is an audio version! Really wanna try listening to the essays now when I get some more time on my hands.
some pixiv, vol 4 of berserk cos all volumes are free on cmoa atm until the 13th (japan time), and some more absolution. i’m thinking i should’ve done a reread of the previous southern reach books before diving into this one…
The last chapter in the book, the start of the new week. I thought it’ll end in the middle of nowhere (because it is not the end of the bigger chapter), but there is a nice cliffhanger!
Sooo… I was gonna read Silent Witch. And I saw that at the end of the book there was a sample of a different book and thought “arg, it’s going to ruin the progress percentage, I’ll have to calculate it myself” and went to the sample story to know what page Silent Witch ends on. Turns out the sample story looked super interesting, I ended up reading it Didn’t think I was going to end up buying the book, so didn’t time my reading session. Well done Kadokawa for baiting me into buying more books
I’ve read the first two novels of this series. They were okay as a stand-alone (the story felt done) so I didn’t want to continue the series. I thought I had abandoned this story, but the manga was quite interesting. Good art. Might pick up the novels again at some point.
