Some not great days and a couple of pretty good ones recently.
I don’t think I’ve caught up but not fallen much further behind. I have a couple of clubs that have finished this week or last week, 蟲師 may have an offshoot, and another LN with one more volume to read, but I’ll finish both before moving on to the next volume (I think I’m running both clubs!).
I have several weeks to catch up on the advanced dictionary - that’ll take time but is doable.
SR 幸せの木 (第79話〜第81話)
July 10th
I met my goal today and read three sections of DrDru’s Main Experiment! (4.8-4.10)
I would have liked to get some CIJ in, too, but today was very busy so alas. The DrDru stories are becoming more and more fun as both the visuals and the vocab get more advanced–while it may not have much practical use in my life, I must admit it’s motivating to spend my Japanese study time reading about treasure, dragons, and magic potions.

・11 pages of 疾風に恋をする, finishing the book!
・9 pages of 17歳のラリー, starting ch 1 and leaving off on pg 15
So these two have been together (and lived together) for two years, and they’re still only using their stage names? All right.
Anyways, I’m glad to have 疾風に恋をする behind me. It started out pretty good, but it started going downhill around halfway through. At least I got some practice reading 関西弁 (and not just 関西弁 lite. La Croix 関西弁).
Most of Amasawa Natsuki’s novels were published by Media Works Bunko – 17歳のラリー is one of the few that’s not, and I think the only sports novel that’s not; it’s Kadokawa Bunko. It is a little weird to have that pale copper cover instead of the marbled grey one lol
And I’m wishing I hadn’t started it so late bc I wanna keep reading but I need to sleep… I’m def enjoying it so far!

I am going to fill my house with ホタルイカ. (Man, I wish you could get models of the sea creatures too. And/or that they were in those cute cylindrical tanks like the タツノオトシゴ instead of the cubical ones. And/or that you could stack objects higher than three tall… Oh well.)

A few pages of 霧島くんは普通じゃない today before bed.
Good day of reading yesterday.
Couple of pages done of the kid’s book, and also managed to finish up the first volume of 仄見える少年.
仄見える少年の感想
It’s fine but I don’t think I’d ever recommend it personally. It feels like a very generic supernatural shonen series, with (so far) no unique elements to make it engaging, and the main character doesn’t have the most likeable personality. I much prefer the side characters so hopefully they get a little more page time. I assume it does not get much more exciting as Jump cancelled it after the fourth volume.
I think if I hadn’t bought it physically I would have dropped it now, but since it’s on the shelf I’ll still finish the four volumes and then pop them on eBay. Reading practice is reading practice afterall.
And then last night skimmed back through the first volume of Number 6 to remind myself what had happened, and made a start on vol 2.

After having just read part of the manga where Nezumi quotes Hamlet in reference to making a soup, I can only imagine the pain of reading the novelisation version. I imagine it’s probably a bit more intense

After another couple of small reading sessions today I’m done with volume 2 of Frieren and have started reading volume 3.

I still don’t know how I feel about this manga. There are things I like, things I dislike or that seem sloppy to me, coupled with rather irritating pacing and panelling at times as the chapters are too short for my liking in general which is likely caused by it being serialised.
But so far I’m still interested enough to continue reading.
