Shorter play today. I’ve become hungry and need to obtain real life food. I gathered enough materials for the next house and got challenged to find a book about local legends though, so at least there’s quest progress.
The plan when I signed up for this challenge was to read one episode of a new SR story per day & review one episode of a previously read SR story. I just couldn’t get excited about the review bit so decided instead to read a chapter per day of Human Japanese Intermediate. Like Satori Reader, it was something I’d purchased but not really used. Since the Spring Reading challenge got me using my SR subscription, I thought this challenge might get me using HJ Intermediate and -yay! - so far so good.
If you’re looking for a good breakdown of the tricky, seemingly counterintuitive differences between Japanese & English usages of the verbs 来る、行く、come & go, I can recommend chapter 10 of HJ Intermediate.
Yuck. Haven’t been feeling well lately plus put my all into the jlpt, so just a few scattered readings. Planning to catch up with JoJo today and then Atelier either today or tomorrow
Done!! Oracle of Season completed! It’s very rough around the edges, but it’s still probably one of my favorite zelda games. Love it to bits. I spent some time going back to do the trade quest to get a potion and the last few heart pieces. I went into the final phase of the last boss with effectively 24 full hearts and ended with… 2.5. Even knowing what you’re doing, sometimes you just miss the boss and take a ton of unavoidable damage waiting for the next cycle.
For japanese learning, I’m not sure playing this game was “worth” it because of how little text there was in it, but It was really fun so I don’t care. I mentioned in my study log that when I got this jp cartridge for it a few years ago that I couldn’t even get it to boot, so I had to learn both a bunch about retro game repair and japanese to get to this point
Oracle of Seasons and Ages feature a ‘linked game’ mode, where beating one game gives you a code that gives you extra content in the other when you start a new file with that code, so at some point I will come back to play ages, which will be a much more new experience.
Not sure what’s next for games, but maybe I’ll play around with some tomorrow to see what feels good.
Today: close reading of p. 1-20 of よつばと!Vol. 4 p. 1-20.

Today’s reading was from a physical book: the next stage for the サバイバル・ゲーム book club. I do prefer to read on my Kindle or PC with easy access to lookups, but once in a while it’s Nice to read a «real» book too!
Another 15k characters down in Chaos;Head. This ending is giving off the vibe it might be a little meatier than the past one, which has me thinking I’m possibly not as close to finishing this as I felt. I’m working on ending 3 of, I believe, 9. But the second one came and went relatively quickly. We’ll see! Still enjoying it.
Worked in more SMT5 last night, very good game. Wanikani sure didn’t prepare me for 魑魅魍魎, but someone told me people post this on the forums when they come across it, so there it is.
I intended to build some houses and meet some new people today. Instead I got more lore on the Witch’s Society and how I’m not exactly equipped to live alone and I’m probably breaking half a dozen rules by staying here. This kind of thing makes me sad the full game isn’t out yet, because I’m curious how the politics all shakes out in the end.
Also I’m learning that while mornings are great for playing for several hours, I seem to require lunch before I’m ready to stop. I’m gonna add more snacks to my grocery list.
