Monday was pretty good, yesterday didn’t manage as much as I hoped - was very noisy on the plane, and I did some work related stuff in the airport.
I’m going diving from tomorrow so will have to see how much I fit in around that.

AHHH the last day of the first month of the challenge!! Did you read more or less than you thought you would?
Today I started volume one of 四月は君の嘘 / Your Lie in April. I’m going in completely blind on this one, I’ve heard the name before but I don’t know anything about it. So far it looks like it’s a story about music but I look forward to reading further.
I also started volume three of Atelier! Ever since we discovered the official playlist for 気になってる人 I’ve occasionally wondered to myself if the manga I’m reading has its own playlist, too. I thought Atelier would need something with magical instrumentals, some sort of riveting classical music, and I found a fan playlist that is perfectly what I was looking for:
It’s a perfect match, exactly what I’d hoped to find ^–^

In April, I made myself read something in Japanese everyday. Although I have to admit, one day I did count reading until 1 AM in the morning as reading for that day.
During this month I started and finished reading Touch (manga) and 3 chapters of Influence (novel). Because Influence is my first novel and I need a dictionary every few sentences, I tended to pick up Touch more frequently as I felt “too tired” at the end of the day to read a novel. Now I finished touch and even if it’s only a few pages, I’m now picking up Influence even when I’m low on energy.
My goal for May is definately to keep up my reading streak and at least finish Influence. For my next manga, I might pick up Demon Slayer so I can return it to it’s rightful owner.
Does anyone have books they read that they recommend?

1st may
did the renshuu book club intermediate and challenge reads, intermediate was a short kind of rom-com-y manga about two students with opposite personalities, and the challenge was a short story about a boy and a ten thousand yen note (was later expanded and published as an actual book under the same title). liked both! intermediate was cute, and challenge takes a bit of a turn in the second half but not in a bad way.
after reading the intermediate i spotted a short 8pg manga that looked interesting and then immediately read the other two works by that author available there, really like their style! first one was about revenge (content warning for graphic violence), second was also 8pgs and historical fiction (think i need to do some reading around this one), and the last one was a longer (30pgs?) thing about a スケバン who falls in love with a guy on the train (loved this one).
today’s nhk article was this one, plus the entries on 上に and 得る・得る in aDoIJG

Read a little bit yesterday at the bar waiting for my trivia group. It’s been fun to read this without doing a bunch of lookups, it’s been a good manga to work on extensive reading with.
Today (5/1) I’d like to either finish 気になってる人が男じゃなかった or read the rest of this week’s reading for フリーレン. And I’d like to get back to reading a page of 366 every day
April Summary
Days Read: 9/30 
Started April off strong but fell off as we got into the final third of the semester. Every April this happens, I’ve even posted about it, but every year I’m like 
book clubs. It’s dead week now but I’m finished with just about everything so I’m ready to get back into reading!
At this point I’m removing 神さまがまちガえる from my reading list, it just doesn’t spark joy anymore

Turns out the new book I’m reading falls into the TL genre? At least suddenly there was smut. Thanks to that I’ve learned quite a few 18+ related words. I’m more cultured now, haha. Not just sudden smut, there’s plot too and the characters are very interesting. I recommend

Thoughts:
Finally recovered from COVID/Got my life in order! Sadly as soon as I did I busted up my toe, but at least that means more reading time!
Sunday was really easy to read, which is great. There is a new series in it which feels like Dungeon Meshi but employment and also much much much more basic. We will see how it goes!
As for Afternoon, God I’m so happy that I just decided to go for it. Hoping in while having caught up with (most) of the manga was the right decision, and I’m so happy that I don’t need Mokuro or anything else to look up. Its my dream magazine honestly, and one I will probably continue to read for the rest of my life
