I’m now back up to date with the IBC! I don’t know if it was the fatigue of marathoning a bunch of セーラー服と機関銃 since I also just did the IBC week 9 chapter recently, the new job fatigue or the content of this week’s chapter, but it was definitely one of the harder weeks for the IBC, so I had to split it across two days after doing it in one for the last few chapters.
Ooh really that would be fun, are you willing to do 2-3 months of each in a row to find out? I could totally design that experiment and give you next steps/ help with tracking…
Or if you prefer one then we could set that as your baseline and add the other to it. It doesn’t quite answer the same question but could still be interesting. Or… am I taking this too seriously
I noticed my book bingo card has a category called “lowest level on TBR” so I scrolled over to my loooong Natively to-be-read list and saw that the manga fitting that category was ハピネス! I remember its offshoot book clubs having lots of activity back when I first joined WK last year, but it was too far above my level for me to jump in at the time As for the storyline, I thought it was… interesting a little weirder than I imagined going in but it certainly keeps your attention lol!
I also read Ch. 9 of Atelier! We meet a new important character in this chapter (I’ve seen fanart of him for years but never knew which series he was from ahaha) so I’m still hooked as always. There was also a super cute cooking scene, which I love because this manga makes food look sooo tasty
I started Tsukihime (the enhanced switch version), and it wasn’t honestly totally easy to follow along with no look ups!!! That was super gratifying and motivating, and I was super happy to continue with it.
And thennnnnnn… I got COVID… Whoops!
So, my reading has been at a minimum as I have been trying to rest as much as possible. Which makes me sad as I was just coming into into my reading groove! Pretty bummed but its honestly not worth getting upset about haha. Will do my best to read over the next few days, but honestly resting and life take priority right now!!
I like that you take it seriously !
I think I’d like to stick to my everyday reading routine, so the second solution might suit me better ?
I can try to find someone willing to take part in the second part of the experiment in the accountability partners thread
I have to consider it, one of the things I like about my current reading patterns is I’m not actually beholden to arbitrary limitations other than ‘read something each day’ lol
did the intermediate and challenge renshuu book club picks. intermediate was a tadoku reader story about two soldiers who guard opposite sides of a border (pretty depressing, but the audio was helpful listening practice), and challenge was a short gag manga about a 妖精 trying to recruit a new magical girl who’s a ヤンキー and she demands workers rights, good fun.
today’s nhk articles were this one and this one (so looong), and the entries on 通りに and とする in aDoIJG
I finished Tokyo Revengers! 31 volumes! Unreal! It also took me until this last volume to realize that リベンジ could also mean having another try at something. Which makes a lot more sense than taking revenge.
I downloaded the Chrome extension 10ten to look up words from Island. Using it, I can see what Wanikani level and what Bunpro vocab deck the words belong to. Now I look up several words in most sentences, but I see that just getting to level 20 will be a big improvement in the amount of words that I have to look up. Sometimes I find a sentence where I understand everything and that feels like a small victory. Reading will be so much more enjoyable when I understand more without having to look up that much!
I’ve lost my reading habit I’ve gotten so used to reading on the train while I was doing internship. Now that I’m done internship, I don’t take the train anymore and I end up not reading for the entire day.
Not having the same routine every day feels weird. My sense of hunger is messed up, I’m not hungry so some days I don’t eat dinner. I’d watch anime while eating dinner, but since I’m not, I end up not watching anime either. So coming back from internship is affecting my activity in both the reading and the listening challenge.
