Seasons was about weather and how at this time of year it can get warm but then later/the next day, pretty cold due to dueling north and south winds.
Midnight Drastic was a bit confusing. I think a yakuza member was given an out and a job but I’m not totally sure. He was young so I don’t feel like it made a lot of sense. Also thinking of just finishing off the manga today.
I return. Got a little distracted with life stuff and jpn study took the backseat for a few days. I was gifted a copy of ‘Japanese Folktales for Language Learners’ published by Tuttle, so I read the first story from that, the mouse’s marriage. I’ll probably post more indepth about this book on my study log later.
I have several easy manga volumes I wanted to get through during this challenge, and realized, oops, there’s only like 2 weeks left (unless I keep posting daily through march) so I read a good amount of rental oniichan volume 3. Still not quite at the ‘read a volume in a day’ level, but feels like it’s getting closer! This volume has been pretty slice of life-y so far, with Kanami hanging out with oniichan and friends and learning things about life.
I spent a bunch of time today setting up kobo and dedrm and ttsu so I can have a good experience reading when I join in the IBC. I had intended to read some of the LN of 本好きの下剋上 today too, but I spent 3 hours doing that setup so just picked up a quick chapter of the next volume of 放浪息子. I do have a day off tomorrow so I might try clear a few chapters of 本好きの下剋上 tomorrow, to get that fully off my plate in time for the IBC.
BASARA finally finished the last bit of chapter 2. Maybe it’s just because it’s the beginning, but these chapters feel pretty long, with a lot going on!
8 pages read of [ぼくは青くて透明で (文春e-book)] in an hour and a half (not great tbh but progress is progress I guess). The publisher limited the amount of times you can copy so now I am on my own to figure shit out since the dictionary is limited (typing on the phone would take too long).
Episodes 25 - 26 of Sakura and Suzuki and I (re)stumbled upon drdru’s stories and read 1_01 to 1_03. I had read some of it last year and really enjoyed it. But I was just reading random episodes(?) I would see from other people’s posts. Now I’m doing it from the very beginning!
I’m glad you liked the list and it’s helping you review as well! Unfortunately, today I couldn’t get around to doing it.
Because...
Friday turned out busier than expected and I was on the road for a total of 4 hours driving in traffic. I feel exhausted… I don’t usually drive now since I work remotely and the last two countries I lived in had the best public transportation… I forgot how mentally draining driving is… Unless it’s a nice long drive with scenic views and no traffic.
Thanks! Funny cause this totally came up on the following episode but you already answered it for me so it was no longer new vocab. I do hope you can interchange it…
alright, ouran vol 12 here we go! first chapter felt quite short, since we moved into teen love triangle drama territory it’s got a bit easier. also did the first chapter of vol 2 of no. 6, which continues to be kinda tricky but doable. main character now has white hair for Reasons pushed through to make it to start of section 4 of the bakumatsu book
today’s nhk article was this one, did the next bit of the granblue valentines thing, and the entries on したがって and そうかと言って
words that stood out:
桜蘭:
大学芋 - candied sweet potato, usu. with black sesame seeds on top. origin of the name is unclear
No. 6
静脈 - vein
怒張 - overswelling of a blood vessel, bulging
膜質 - property of a film or membrane (in this case an insect wing)
血清 - blood serum

I am joining the reading challenge a bit late because I just found out about Wanikani! In 2024, I want to incorporate reading in Japanese as part of my everyday routine
Started the day by reading the first chapter of the writing craft book. Mostly just an introduction. (Btw, the book is in English if I didn’t mention that.)
Also after a month I once again picked up my Swedish creature mythology/folk lore book again. Reading about a forest creature that was only known in Gotland (a big island off the east coast, in the Baltic sea). A trickster that liked using different ways to make people get lost. Also possibly a death-related creature that was the ghost of people who did certain kinds of wrongs that were then stuck/doomed into a bad existence. So very cheery. Anyway, seemed to have been mostly focused around a fear of getting lost in the forest, which to be fair is bad enough in our day with gps and phones (unless you’re too far out and have no reception), but even worse back in the day when these kinds of myths were common place.
Welp, today I was a bit lazy I only read one more chapter from the King’s birthday, but no NHK today… I’ll still count this day cuz at least I read something lol
