I waited a few days with the update post, because I did not have all too much to say. And the last days I was too tired after the reading to make a post, too (I often read shortly before sleeping).

暁のヨナ vol. 2 (p. 100 - p. 126)
Today I had a little bit more time to read again and I finished chapter 9 (which I started yesterday).

ちいさな森のオオカミちゃん vol. 1 (p. 27 - p. 48)
Today I read the second chapter. Only the first half of it is part of this weeks book club section. But somehow I can not stop before reading at least the whole chapter.

6月4日(日)

暁のヨナ vol. 2 (p. 127 - p. 158)
I finished chapter 10 in record time. Thanks to some action scenes and when there was talking, it was rather straight forward.
Only one chapter left in this volume. Afterwards I can finally tackle the remaining book club sections of this week.

Read a bit during dinner time. Made plans of having zoomies with study buddy, so that was more important after dinner.

It’s kinda funny how I read the previous volume in one week and this volume not even 50% and it’s been two weeks already (There were some exams in between and a few missed days so not so weird after all, now that I think about it )

Went on another vacation this weekend, but this time I took the train so I got some reading in! Read something like 20 pages of Chamber of Secrets. At this point my reading is getting pretty fast so it’s probably time to switch back to textbook learning, as I hope to take the N2 in December and have a loooooot of studying to do.

Days 64-65 Progress:
わたしが恋人になれるわけないじゃん、ムリムリ! (※ムリじゃなかった!?) 四巻よんかん - 27.50% → 70.06%

A lot of reading!! Except it doesn’t really feel like that much because this volume is so damn long…

香穂(かほ) is a fun character and her dynamic with れな子(こ) has certainly been the most casually intimate so far, but most of this volume has kind of felt like a diversion from the 真唯(まい) and 紫陽花(あじさい) love triangle which thankfully at least seems to be maybe coming to a head soon?

Feels like all I’ve been doing in my free time recently is watching movies and reading yuri light novels…

Word of the Day: 夥(おびただ)しい - large number; innumerable; vast; immense. Always nice when a kanji like 夥 perfectly encapsulates the meaning of the word.

So June started a bit rough, considering most of May was rough, no surprise there. But today I finally read something beside the grammar dictionary so I thought I’d post.

Started Death Comes to Pemberley that I picked up last year in paperback (in the original English). Except for Japanese manga and textbooks, I have no idea when I last read something in paperback. If I’d been reading this as an ebook, as is my wont, I would have gotten the definition for a word here or there. Maybe 3 or so adjectives that I’m not entirely clear on because they are mainly/only used in historical fiction so I haven’t seen them enough to know exactly what they mean. This a reminder that there are times I need to look up things in English too, but very rarely. (I don’t read much historical fiction, so even though this has a few instances, it would probably average out to 1 in 50k words or even less often.)

Anyway, enjoying the book so far. I was thinking of rereading Pride and Prejudice before starting this, but I remembered how much of a slow start that one has even though I loved the second half. So instead I just watched a movie version to remind me. Keira Knightly is so pretty. I wish I looked half as beautiful.

Also finished week 1 of Ouran, 1,5 week late… From peeking at the comments for the next couple of parts of chapter 1 though, it sounds easier than the first half, so I’ll be very grateful for that. Hopefully I can catch up before we start chapter 2 on Saturday.

Busy day so a short update; but all my books came in!

kobayashi 1-9, nausicaa 1-7, touhou wild and horned hermit 1-10, and two yorushika albums!

I’m driving back home to visit and pick up some stuff I forgot, but I’m bringing the first volume of kobayashi and the touhou manga to do level tests tomorrow. The nausicaa volumes are just way larger than I expected, they’re almost on the same size as a US comic book, just enormous pages for manga. They’re also gorgeous, very much looking forward to that club

I finished not only ch 3 of 約束の星を数えて like planned, but all of it. In 5 days. And since I only read like 10 pages on the first day, if I hadn’t been impatient and had waited a day to start it, it woulda been 4. Okay.

Anyway, that was 93 pages that I read today. Also sensei used different euphemisms this time and it’s throwing me off a little. I have two more of her books on my wishlist, and I hope she doesn’t use yet different terms in those. I mean, there can only be so many, right. (Right??) Anyway I did start a bookmark folder in Shirabe for them lol

Some vocab of note:

加害者 (かがいしゃ) [n.] assailant; perpetrator; aggressor; wrong-doer
ムック [n.] mook; book with the look and feel of a magazine. From m(agazine) + (b)ook. I’ve seen this word in English before but no one could actually say what it was, and yet here it is.
貪る (むさぼる) [他ラ五] to covet; to crave; to lust insatiably for. to indulge in; to devour greedily.
シャベル [n.] shovel
初心 (うぶ) [n., な-adj., の-adj.] innocent; naïve; unsophisticated; inexperienced; green; wet behind the ears. It also exists as 初心い, but that form’s not used anymore (I still put it on my list though).
