Re: What's your favorite Kanji and why?

Are you right handed? Then my mnemonic could work for you: With which hand do you put food in your mouth? 右

That’s the hand I do construction with

Sadly, I’m left-handed. The WK mnemonic was even made for left-handed people, yet I still confuse the two

Nobody’s yet mentioned my favorite one, 草.
It’s just so clean with the beautiful flowers on top, sun in the middle, and cross on the bottom. Its meaning makes sense (grass), and its reading (くさ) is an easy to remember mnemonic! The cool saw.

My favourite is 光. I named my bunny with the Chinese reading and decided on this kanji before I even started learning Japanese😂 So 光 definitely is the most special one to me

To me 貝 is the cutest. It looks like a happy little clam or scallop, with the lil shell hinge at the bottom also looking like its happy lil feet. Depending on the font, they bend a little making it look like it’s dancing…I am embarrassingly attached to this lil guy

And if you’re not inclined to think scallops are cute it also reminds me of the baby scallop from spongebob or the baby oysters from Alice in Wonderland

The latter of which I saw a LOT of merch of on a Japanese Crane Game website…so I guess they’re popular lol? I had totally forgotten they existed til then.

It’s actually amazing to find someone who shares my favourite kanji character 雨. Honestly speaking, it’s not the only favourite Kanji of mine. Most of my first learnt Kanji characters are my favourite, such as 山, 川, 火…
The reason is simply, because they resemble their meanings.
