Thank you, but I donāt think there is anything that could change their policy.
Currently Iām thinking about trying to negotiate with WaniKani crew or to drop wanikani all together and create a standalone kanji learning app. Or to leave it all as is.
Didnāt the exact same thing happen when you were first releasing your app? I donāt understand how they can force you to provide subscription options through IAP when legally you canāt accept them, not being an agent for Tofugu, LLC. It just seems to me that the reviewer thinks yours is an official app.
I assume youāve appealed to the App Review Board?
Well, the option of doing Ad-hoc distribution doex exist (for instance, UserTest does this to provide their IPA to their users), but I donāt think it would be practical
Yes this happened before but after my appeal they let it through.
This time they have a different opinion about it. I had a good 30 min talk with Apple representative, so no, they donāt assume this app is official, they know the whole picture exactly, and their answer is still to either implement iAPs or to get out of store.
Would you be allowed to make it a one time payment to take down the app? As much as we pay for WaniKani already, a small one time payment to have this extra tool should be affordable by any who wants to use it.
Not sure if you are allowed to take money for it though, since it is a third party app.
There is no access to subscription page from within the app.
I removed all of those long age. Itās just that apple figured out that service has subscription and wants it to be within the app made with in app purchases.
Thatās a garbage decision that is not cosistent with their terms of service. What if we all write letters on your behalf? The app is in compliance with their terms of service without an IAP link. Especially since AlliCrab is still on the App Storeā¦
Give us an email address.
I can also reach out to my network and see if thereās anything else that can be done. I know some senior engineers at apple. They might know who to talk to.
Hi @haawa
First of all : thank you for this great app.
I use it everyday and Iām so glad I can wanikani on the go with useful scripts.
Iād like to know if thereās a way to prevent the keyboard to go up and down with each input?
I get kinda dizzy on the iPad with that.
Maybe thatās something I can deactivate in the settings but I couldnāt find it.
Tons of thanks anyway!
Thanks for kind words!
Unfortunately the reviews are done in webview, and there is no way, as far as I know, to control the keyboard.
This app is a third party app, not an official app. Due to various reasons, i no longer update the app. Main reasons are lack of time due to my day job, problems with Apple to accept updates, and WaniKani limitations.
Currently Iām working on a similar app but without WaniKani as a backend.
This truely is a great app and I really enjoy using it. The only problem is that even after trying different ways (log out, reboots, uninstall/reinstall, generating new API keys, toggling connectivity etc.) I still canāt get the watch app to work. The screen just stays empty with alternating āFetchingā¦ā and āCritical itemsā flickering at the top. Is there a way to solve this?
I know youāre not actively working on the app anymore but I thought Iād ask, in case Iām missing something.
Thankyou!
I would pay $50 for this app if it included the Anki Mode script.
Iāve waited a year now hoping that someone would make an iOS app with anki mode, I am so tired of carrying my laptop around purely for doing WaniKani reviews. I want to be able to do reviews with one hand while standing on a train/eating a banana/petting a cat and stop wasting time on typos on my phone keyboard.
Iām serious, if someone updates this app/makes a new one with anki mode Iāll pay.
