Watching stuff on youtube is so fun, I don’t feel like it should count as studying. Especially since I only understand like every third sentence. I am looking up words though, and tried the jotoba radical search for kanji from the subtitles. Worked great!

I was a bit sad to finish FMA, but decided today to check out the netflix series from last year for 舞妓さんちのまかないさん. What stood out for me the most so far is how the order of the storytelling differs from the manga, which is quite interesting. Will definitely watch some more.

I managed to listen to so many things this week! Some of them were spooky, some were silly, and some were autobiographical. There was a Mexican folk tale about the Woman in White, there was a Japanese folk tale about some Till Eulenspiegel equivalent, and something about the nobel peace prize nominee Floyd Schmoe and his work in Japan.
Other things weren’t as interesting and therefore less memorable, but I noticed that though I was struggling to catch everything, I was able to intuit way more things than I thought.I may not be able to follow regular speed speech quite yet, especially if the vocab is lacking, but my mind is quickly getting used to working at that pace.

Week 3 Recap（１６日〜２２日）
Managed to do some listening six out of seven days last week. I continued to watch The Journalist and review old japanesepod101 lessons for my core listening, then supplemented with NHK News and Nihongo con Teppei podcasts.
No new insights this week, other than continuity seems to help. I may not be able to understand much of an NHK story the first day, but when the story’s revisited the next day I can usually grasp a lot more.

Listened to this podcast. With the Japanese subtitles, I feel like I was comfortably able to keep up and understand about 80% of this, which was a nice motivation boost! I also learnt what the three largest cities in Mexico are ha.
From this, discovered Yuyu’s channel, and listened to his live stream yesterday whilst I was working, so will be doing that again tomorrow

That’s an interesting video - I understood much or even most of the dialog, mostly without looking at the subtitles (because the pace of the conversation is fast enough that the subtitles do not stick around on-screen for long).
I will have to bookmark that one and will have to check out the Yuyu podcast.
