Thoughts:
At some point during this challenge I’m going to have to try some new podcasts. Teppei is great but the structure of every episode is very similar and episode topics are similar, too. (especially when you’ve listened to almost 300 episodes in a few months 
) He also has an intermediate podcast, but I doubt I’m ready for that.

I didn’t include any real specific action plan or strategy or system in my home post, but I have been thinking about it for a while and I want the main focus of this challenge to be to tune up my japanese youtube algorithm a bit. Find more new channels, try out new topics, just kinda get more acquainted with what youtube has to offer if I’m not constantly being bombarded by language learner content.

- 朝ミオ - This weeks お便り topic was about strange 鍋 ingredients. Morning Mio is one of the weekly things that I’ve been watching on/off for about as long as I’ve been learning japanese, so this is not a new one to me
I usually only stick around for the letters part, I’m not super interested in the news section after usually. - このeたこ (EASY) | ゲーセン de RTA #2 in 大阪 - saw there were a couple new RTA in Japan vods. The gamecenter event is usually kinda funky arcade games, and this was indeed a funky and quick arcade game
- 読書家の最近読んだ10冊【2023年9月】 - here’s my ‘trying something new’ for the day. Book review channel. Definitely did not understand everything being said, but it was fun (and potentially useful) enough to sub. (Also exactly the second time I’ve seen 文學 written like that )
ほんタメ！ I like the girl’s recommendations but the guy and I do not have similar tastes most of the time.
October 1st!
Today I listened to 2 episodes of Nihongo con Teppei for Beginners while out for a walk, and also watched an episode of Terrace House with my daughter (though that had english subs!).
Like in the other challenges I won’t be listening everyday, so, no home post, but I’ll be listening when I get the chance. Will try and listen as much as I can!

Today I listed to a vid from Akane:
About language use in hotels. Like the cafe vid I watched the other time, I could understand most of what Akane was saying but got completely lost whenever the staff would start talking. Maybe it could be that Akane speaks right into the mic and the staff don’t, or it’s just that they are very mumbly. When the guy spoke I had to read the subtitles and found it hard to link up his mumble noises to the text on screen.

I started the month with some Yuyu, but his 30 min podcast was a bit too much for me at once, so I split it in 2 days. And recently, I found this podcast called 世界の最新ニュース on Spotify. It’s really, really hard for me - I can barely follow it - but it’s a short daily bite of international events in the news, which I find extremely interesting to gain exposure to different topics (things like politics, sports or economy, which I normally wouldn’t listen to since I’m not that interested). So even if it’s difficult, it’s a nice chance to expand my vocabulary.

Interview with『遠巷説百物語』author Kyōgoku Natsuhiko (9:36)
- Lots of specialty ghost-related and horror-related vocab! Super interesting. Kyōgoku seems like a fascinating guy; he’s the president of 世界妖怪協会 the World Yōkai Society and has been writing ghost stories for many years.

- Watched as a guilty pleasure :3 I love watching Takarazuka performances and swooning over Yuzuka Rei
JLPT N3 Listening Practice (thru 4:47)
- Running out of time, so I just did rei through 3. Number 1, the ordering one, was quite difficult for me to figure out? But the others were much easier. The audio is super crunchy so it’s very authentic lol

softlyraining’s easy listening corner 
A little late to posting, but I’m excited to start the challenge! With last month being INSANELY busy, I’m happy to be able to start this one from the beginning (rather than at the end like the last one). 
Similar to lucylavelle, I, too, signed up for the JLPT (though I would call it less of a strange burst of bravado and more an idiotic one for me, but I digress). My main goal will be to do a lot of JLPT listening practice, though I’ll probably also listen to my usual podcasts and things just because I’d likely go mad doing only test prep.
Here’s to hopefully not burning out. 
Also, a hearty welcome to those participating for the first time! It’s always nice to see returning faces and new ones alike.

Thoughts:
I think I do need to find a new podcast. A week or so ago I tried Japanese with Shun but I didn’t really like it. Maybe I will try one of the more conversational ones to mix it up.
Listening and reading along on Satori Reader is really nice, it’s so helpful to connect the language to the text. They also have such well done voice acting. I haven’t been doing this intensively, I usually only do intensive listening on Satori when I don’t have work.
I like this guy a lot. He gives a brief lesson on how something is really used with several examples, and then puts it in a realistic dialog. I really like how it isn’t slowed down (I can pause it if I want), it’s full realistic speed. Also it’s funny.
yep. I just shared his other video. He’s really good at explaining and funny, too. 
I watched another episode of ノッキンオン・ロックドドア S1 | L33?? and it feels like the series is losing steam as it nears the end rather than gaining it. I noticed that the villian of the show is the same actor as the hero of the last show I watched, though. He seems to be everywhere lately (this guy).
I also watched another episode of アンナチュラル S1 | L35?? which is a delight but much harder to keep up with the fast medical dialogue.

I really like this format, he speaks at a nice pace and with just enough new vocab that I can understand the setence and pick up the meanings of the words I don’t know. I just need to move away from a reliance on reading the subtitles!
