Level 3 - no new lessons for 3 days despite doing all reviews

Hi, I’ve been really enjoying Wanikani so far but I’ve run into a weird issue, I can’t tell if it’s intentional or not. I’m in level 3 and I’ve been doing all my reviews when they show up, but I haven’t had any new lessons since Wednesday. Here’s my current spread (everything in level 1/2 is guru’d). I have 26 vocab words still locked for this level:

There’s a couple of vocab I’m struggling to remember the readings for, which are those bottom 5, but everything else, I feel like I’ve got a good handle on it? I’m not sure what I’m missing to get more lessons going. I know the early levels tend to be slow, but three days without any new lessons feels weird to me??

Thanks for any help!

It looks like you need to guru more kanji to get more lessons…
In other words, just keep doing your reviews – and soon the lessons would arrive.

Iirc, here’s the table of how the items progress:

Anyway, best of luck with your studies! wricat

it’s likely that those vocab are locked behind the kanji that you have yet to guru (because they use those kanji). most levels in my experience are like this: there are the vocab, radicals and kanji that you can learn right at the start of the level, then another group of kanji and vocab that are gated by the radicals and kanji that are available at the beginning, and then one further set of vocab behind those kanji.

Okay, thank you both! I think it hadn’t quite clicked that vocab is locked behind “guruing the specific kanji in it" rather than “guruing a set amount of items before it." It’s obvious when I type it out like that now, but wasn’t before

The chart and the explanation of “chunks" of each level both were super helpful, I appreciate it! It looks like I’m set to review on several Apprentice-4 kanji in an hour or so, so fingers crossed that’ll unlock some new vocab for me :crossed_fingers:
