Kanji now appearing bold?

I noticed this last night, I thought it could be due to a recent IME install but the fonts are also bold on my phone. Are other people getting this? I find it hugely distracting and a step-down aesthetically. I’m getting a bit tired of changes for changes sake with the website recently.

As in every kanji anywhere on the site is bold? I’m not seeing that. An example of what you’re referring to would be beneficial.

Do you mean the kanji in reviews? If so, it’s been doing that intermittently with me for weeks (like, well before the last major update), and I have no idea why

Your font definitely changes due to an IME, this is true.

For the phone, I am not sure, maybe you have a JP keyboard on your phone? Though I don’t know if it changes anything there.

In any case, I’m pretty sure there are user scripts to change the fonts.

Thanks for the inputs. I notice it on the reviews and lessons. Here’s an example:

EDIT: For those in my situation… at least on my PC I manager to fix this issue, the kanji now looks like this:

Press Win+I → Apps → Optional Features → find “Japanese Supplemental Fonts” and uninstall → Restart PC.

The default fonts are the following, in order of priority, many of which are installed by that supplemental fonts feature:
"Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro", "Meiryo", "Source Han Sans Japanese", "NotoSansCJK", "TakaoPGothic", "Yu Gothic", "ヒラギノ角ゴ Pro W3", "メイリオ", "Osaka", "MS PGothic", "MS Pゴシック", "Noto Sans JP", "PingFang SC", "Noto Sans SC", sans-serif

Thanks, at first I thought it was the first “Hiragino Kaku Gothic Pro” but couldn’t find that in my fonts folder. In that case I’m probably using Yu Gothic.

Going to mark this as the solution as it will be useful for others to reference.

I just noticed this myself and will try this fix in a moment! Thanks!
