How to use ANKI effectively?

Hi! I am a new learner to Japanese, I want to start to expand my vocabulary however I find using ANKI really difficult. I tend to forget the card the next day… I like wanikani as I can review cards every few hours. Any tips for using ANKI better?

Try setting Learning Steps to something like 1m 1h (and perhaps also Relearning Steps)

Emulating a full WaniKani behavior like 4h 8h 1d 3d 7d... 112d would result in not graduating until after 4 months, as well as creating filter decks would reset the half-learnt stats.
