Anki settings to resemble Wanikani

Hi, I’m a new Japanese learner. Pardon my bad English im not a native speaker.

I recently started using WaniKani, and I really like its SRS system. I feel like im remembering words very effectively. What I want to do is implement the same system in Anki. However, I havent used Anki much, so I have no idea what any of the settings do.

Im currently using the Kaishi 1.5 deck. Is there a way to make Anki work the same way as WaniKani? Specifically, can I adjust the time intervals between learning and reviewing, the SRS, the proficiency stage levels for items?

I’m not sure about the exact settings, but WK seems to doubles intervals when you get an item correct, while Anki’s multiplier seems to be 2.5x. You can try to adjust starting ease to 2x (Deck Options - Anki Manual) and see if you like that better.

Personally I’d advise to default to longer intervals rather than shorter, and mark your answers “hard” for items that you want to review more often. With shorter intervals it’s easier to drown in reviews.

Anki can be set (1) learning intervals (2) relearning intervals, to be in the matter of hours, like this one.

However, when it went passed learning (i.e. learned), time to next review will be minimum 1 day, no matter whether you use FSRS or any other schedulers.

In addition, cards in learning stage, using fixed intervals, will reset its stats when put in filtered decks. But learned card states would remain.

For me, in the end, instead of 4h 8h 1d 3d… fixed intervals like in WaniKani, I set both learning and relearning intervals to 10min 1h – that’s all. After that, I rely on automatic interval calculation. But if I want shorter than 1 day – mark as wrong, or I have to, forget the card to reset the stats.

Kitsun was developed to use WaniKani-like intervals, if you don’t mind paying.
