Searched the original formatting for the first very few E-mails (unfortunately, this was before I switched email, so this is on Outlook), but found absolutely nothing.
If you have any questions or troubles, don't hesitate to email us. You can = just reply to this email, and someone will help you out.<br> <br> =E2=99=A1,<br> Koichi &amp; the WaniKani </td> </tr> </tbody></table> <!--[if mso]--> <!--[endif]-->
As you can see, there are PrintIn tags, but they contained nothing.
(You can ignore the gibberish - They were just line breaks.)
I leveled up monday and toggled now but didn’t get anything. I’ll toggle again soon.
I level up again next monday, so I guess I can send another email then? It’s a fast level so I can maybe send three emails in total??
No idea what this is about, but I did sign up during February. I’m reviewing the sources of the messages I got at sign-up, titled “Confirmation Instructions,” “WaniKani is Hard,” “Why do I have to wait?”, and “Oh The Kanji You’ll Learn.” I don’t have a specific e-mail for level 1.
Only thing I see that’s unusual in the comments is this, in the “WaniKani is Hard” message:
<br>
Don't hesitate to reach out if we can help you with your Japanese studies.=
Now=2C go get those radical lessons done if you haven't yet!<br>

Although the “WaniKani Is Hard” message is reported in the spreadsheet as containing that Alice in Wonderland paraphrase about durtles, I don’t have that text in my version of the email as far as I can tell. (As of 02/05/19.)
someone else also had something like “Durtles B Durtles” instead of the real message. red herrings maybe? I hope these are not important <.< or else we might be searching for a long time until we have alternate messages for all levels.
Edit: My WaniKani is hard message is from an hour ago lol.
Yeah this is kinda likely to be important. Both of these alternate messages contain a single letter which might be used for some code/password purposes.
Edit: Question would be how is it determined if you get normal or alternate message? maybe weekday dependant?
If it helps, the messages I have in the level 2 and 3 mails are consistent with what’s been reported. So the same user doesn’t consistently get alternate messages.
