Genki I study group [home thread]

I totally understand, don’t worry. I’ll try to follow that rythm and if I can’t then it’s too bad  No worries

Count me in as well. I was planning on using Japanese for Everyone, but I like the idea of being consistent with a group of people that I can practice typing with. And the motivation to stay consistent is certainly worth more than the text!

Considering how negligent I am of my Genki books, I hope this group study helps. I am looking forward to joining this !

Totally want to join! I found Tofugu and saw that I enjoyed learning Japanese. I already progressed to Kanji after learning Hiragana and Katakana so this study group would really help with the grammar and everything else involving Japanese.

I’d love to join this group! I’ve owned the Genki books for a while but really drag my feet on getting through the chapters. I think having a weekly deadline & group to study with will really help. Count me in  I’m excited to get started with other folks and maybe even do some of the partner/group activities together!

I’m new to posting, and really interested in trying to make it through. I got to Chapter 3 and immediately got overwhelmed. Hopefully, doing it with a group will help! I don’t know how to use the blur spoiler tags, so would appreciate any posting advice so I don’t mess anything up for anyone else.

Do we just post/check back some time during that respective week once it starts? Also there’s an Genki Vocab app too so you can practice the vocab that’s in the chapters. FYI…the vocab builds up so it’s nice try to keep on it.

Can’t wait to start! Thanks for making the thread!

Count me in! I bought the Genki books a month ago and I’ve been avoiding them ever since out of intimidation.

Yeah, just check in as much as you need to whenever we start, and to do a spoiler you do
text
Count me in too!

I already started ch 1-4 but this will be great to actually go through each chapter instead of jumping around :grimacing:

To help with the speaking practice, you might want to set up a Discord channel where people can go there to do a join conversation. Since we are all over the world (me in Japan), this could be a way to help with the conversation and getting use to speaking Japanese. Just a thought
