Forecasting Reviews on the Dashboard

I don’t know what this achieves that a walk me couldn’t though.

I love it!! The illustrations changing is a cute effect… my poor crabigator is being smothered by lessons T^T

I do miss having my level at the top of the screen, though. I think it would be cool to have a nice big level badge up in the top menu (Levels, Radicals, etc.) so I can see how hard I’ve worked really prominently, you know? It’s the only thing I miss from before the big recent redesign.

Good grief.

I think it looks cute!

I hardly use the dashboard for anything except to view level progress and choose Lessons or Reviews, so I am good with the change to have all those elements really big up at the top.

My only concern is that someone (maybe me) is going to have to update the dark theme again  Though I understand why that isn’t the concern of the WaniKani staff.

I just love it!
But the buttons could take up too much space on mobile?

Great update! I love how it looks and gives the information. Thank you for the hard work!

I got you covered

I think it would be better to have smaller review and lesson buttons. That way, you can see more information without having to scroll.

nice

Looks pretty good on desktop, but Dashboard Progress Plus shows more information so will be sticking with it. Might be nice to hide the forecast panel so there aren’t two timelines being shown, but I assume that’d require a user-script.

Very cheeky question for @oldbonsai: I’m attempting to insert a new button into the top navigation bar for the Leech Trainer but I can’t get it to do the nice rolling language thing, or display the drop down like the other ones.

I think the Firefox tools are telling me that the clickhandler is on the parent div, so I was hoping that simply having some similar markup would allow me to leech (ha!) off what’s already there, but no such luck. If I set the data-expanded values to true then it’s all as expected, so I think I’ve piggy-backed off some of the code.

I will happily accept “pal, you’re way out of the area of support!” as a response!

Another voice to add to the pile, I guess - I really like the new design on desktop, but I primarily use WK on mobile… the illustrated buttons are waaaay too big on mobile and push everything I want to see below the fold, which is a bit irritating. I really didn’t have a problem with how the lesson/review buttons looked before, and this feels like a step back in terms of usability for me

At level 4, you probably don’t have a ton of reviews upcoming anyway.

When I was in the 30-40 range and trying to balance a fast pace while working full time, the timeline addon was my salvation.

Now, when my I’m all about staying on top of my short-term reviews so I can proactively reduce my workload as I progress towards all-burned, knowing when the next Apprentice or Guru reviews are coming up is invaluable. Master and Enlightened reviews aren’t so time-critical, but missing a chance to review an Apprentice item (which is likely to be a leech) can set that item back a day.

If you don’t benefit now by a forecast, you will in the future.

BTW same here. I suggest, however, that you don’t do your reviews for mobile on the site itself. You haven’t said whether you are on iOS or Android, but there are some great third-party mobile apps, many are even open-source!

I feel like something like a 24-hour chart and then info on the next level-up review would be enough of a forecast until Level 60.

I just leveled up from 7 to 8 and in my new lessons the background for the radicals is purple instead of blue. It was freaking me out so I switched back to the old view.

Because I’m doing wanikani and it takes all of my time I don’t read this forum so I don’t know if there is a place to report bugs. Hopefully someone has found this and can get it fixed!

I quite like the ‘Review Forecast’ :+1: enables you to plan things out better through the week.
Could do without ‘Lessons’ and ‘Reviews’ buttons being as big as they are; seems unnecessary.

Why do the “Lessons” and “Reviews” buttons need to be this large?

Just logged in on my work computer and I have to admit the layout is much better for square screened computers. everything is visible on the screen at the same time. It seems the layout issue arises when using wider rectangular screens, as forecast and kanji info is cut off.

Here’s a picture for comparison
