Call the helpline instead ;^)
I swear this guide must have been written by the same people who wrote the FF9 guide. Sure, we could tell you what to do, but wouldnāt you rather go to PlayOnline instead?
Just left my grinding for death machine to grab the Excalibur, and my first fight after obtaining it had a crit for 947! Almost thereā¦
I definitely hit for over a thousand in the Famicom version, Iām not sure thereās a cap. (There is a 999HP cap for the warriors however).
Ah, can confirm now, just hit for 1058.
Finally found the bastard:
Secret Boss
After all that, I used a buff spell for the first time ever (haste). He died in two turns. I might as well have just auto-attacked.
I went from lvl 45 to lvl 63 just trying to find him. Even my white mage is nearly capped! I also discovered that the gil cap is 999,999. I opened a chest with gil in it and got a new message I didnāt expect - because I couldnāt hold anymore -.-
Okay, all treasure chests and bestiary entries complete up to this point. I was only actually missing Green Dragon (waterfall cave), Tyrannosaur (rare, mirage desert) and mr secret boss. All set for next week.
I have finally caught up!! I did not expect one of the spells to summon a baby angel
Good luck:
Iām so unbelievably excited to have reached this point! Iāll post in the week 13 thread as soon as I finish!
Took a bit
On my second fight with this boss, I managed to kill him with only 20hp on my last warrior! Talk about tough! I got what i needed then went to the top. Very excited to be close!
I donāt even know if the guide section of PlayOnline ever actually went anywhere. It still serves as a launcher for FFXI and used to have multiplayer Tetra Master but even way back in the day I donāt recall ever seeing content for IX and X like they planned. POL was supposed to be a big, centralized platform for everything FF related but the process of navigating it is still such a pain to this day that it died pretty quickly. Itās amusing seeing it on the title screen for the PS2 version of FFX knowing how it ended up.
Oh gods, I had almost forgotten about the era of social media integration in games. It makes sense from a development standpoint: people are constantly posting content from games so removing barriers that might make it more difficult can be seen as user-friendly while also generating free PR buzz but Iām glad itās mostly gone away. FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns both let you post milestone achievements like beating bosses directly to linked social media accounts. Iāve never been a big user of social media so it seemed really silly to me. Iām sure some people got plenty of use out of it, though.
Didnāt the PS4 (or 5?) have a social media share button directly on the controller?
Both have a āshareā button that allows you to take screenshots or save videos. I suppose thatās replaced the ingame social media integration of ages past but I only use it to save stuff for myself or to send to the one friend I talk to over PSN lol. I had almost forgotten itās meant for social media.
I think all the major consoles have had it starting with the PS4/XB1/Switch generation. Not 100% sure about Xbox though, I havenāt owned one since the 360.
Week 12
Dialogue this week was pretty easy up until the end. The last robot next to the observation window, the window itself and Tiamat were all a little tricky. I read all the discussion around Tiamat before fighting her and I still wasnāt prepared. lol Almost wiped the floor with me but having my Ninja and Red Wizard allowed me to get Temper and Haste on my Master in one round after reviving him and let him get a 1500 damage hit off on that same round. Ninja was dead at the end so fell even further behind in exp.
Iāve only ever played the GBA version of FFI before now so Iām really feeling the lack of the bonus dungeons. I forget what level I beat Tiamat at in that version but I know I was in the 80 range when I beat Chaos. Iām only 44 now with 12:35 on the clock so weāll see how the final week goes.
