Hm… any estimates for when this anime was airing? Genre? I’d guess shounen from your description of the opening, but there’s a LOT of anime openings out there, an approximate time period would help a lot. My google-fu has its limits.
If I were to approximate, I would say it aired 2015-2017.
mmmm… anything else you remember? main characters appearance, approximate plot/setting, etc of the anime.
I do not remember such details.
I see Galileo Galilei, I gotta ask the obligatory question of you know about BBHF, correct? ![]()
I do! I’m glad they decided to get back together, but the vibes are a little different and I’ve found I don’t like as much of the BBHF stuff. I feel like I love 95% of Galileo Galilei’s stuff but only like 10% of BBHF’s which is wild since they’re literally the same band…
Also didn’t like Yuuki Ozaki’s solo stuff.
I’m mostly upset that if I want to see them live, I won’t get to see Galileo Galilei’s music, just BBHF’s which is so far only okay-ish.
Some really cool recommendations here that I’ll definitely have to check out!! Honestly, I sound like a complete nerd, but my favorite thing at the moment is the karaoke music from the Yakuza series, haha. I’ve memorized all the words to Machine Gun Kiss so now I can just belt it out whenever it comes on shuffle.
As for ACTUAL bands, I’ve found myself listening to JELLY and Yabai T-Shirts Yasan thanks to Spotify’s discover weekly actually giving me cool songs for once.
BabyMetal Karate, don’t vote me off please…
I can see that. I think their new album is real good. But they’re like solely making albums to listen to as a whole versus focusing on individual songs. Which is not my preference, but I think they succeeded in their last album.
Anyway, on this thread’s topic, I’ve recently discovered Lozareena and My First Story.
@Hadros well I’ve scrolled through anichart and looked up a bunch of OPs and can’t say I’ve had any success yet.
@EvilScheme OOOH THE YAKUZA STUFF. I’m in love with 24hr cinderella, especially the video. Majima doing roller disco??? Sign me tf UP. Also Loser
@kurseddragon hmm maybe ill give their new album a go as an album then, I’m prone to hitting “shuffle all songs by this artist” and then judging them on their own. Maybe i’ll like it more.
Yeah, find a time when you’re in a mood to chill out and just play it in order. It all vibes as one.
This is probably quite unusual, but Yellow Magic Orchestra (they get mentioned in a breath with Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, also worked with Bowie, and the solo artists that made up the group are legends from what I’ve heard), Southern All-Stars (Japan‘s biggest rockband, been going on for 40 years, had 40 out of the „Top 100“ for japanese music exclusive charts once), Hibari Misora (might have the most sales of any japanese artist, she was post-WW2, and sales weren’t kept track of. Her „swan song“ „Kawa No Nagare No Yoni“ was voted japan‘s favorite song in a survey with 10 million. Got state medals for her artistic contributions post-WW2) and Ayumi Hamasaki, who seems to be an early (~2000s) J-Pop idol, who also had her own fashion brand.
All I can think of off the top of my head, pretty diverse list, and I like all of them.
Best place to start might be YMO‘s Solid State Survivor, probably one of my favorite pieces of music, it’s not japanese in any ~real way though.
Also, like three vocaloid songs, and all of the Yakuza 0 disco and karaoke songs.
Maybe Hanayamata? Feels like it COULD be that, it’s the only thing coming to mind, really

Generally I like Purasonica on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZx7esGXyW6JXn98byfKEIA. Sometimes I listen to the covers on their page before the original. They do amazing covers of current songs. Also it doesn’t get boring quickly, because they take turns singing the lyrics.
The ghibli music is an all time classic for me.
I have been a huge fan of the Visual Kei genre since I was a teenager, some bands are heavier than others. Their look was so avant garde!
I recommend the following:
Malice Mizer
Gackt (from Malice Mizer)
Dir en Grey
Glay
I am basically stuck in the early 2000’s XD
Dang it now you got me into Eve. I’ve never been into Japanese music since it’s all so poppy and I don’t really like American pop but Eve’s got such a good vibe in his songs… I guess it’s probably a good thing to at least try to start getting into Japanese music now that I’m a year into my journey of learning Japanese (and hope to study abroad there for at least a semester lol)
A few songs by Kaji Meiko like きょうの我が身は and ノスタルジア by Umezawa Tomio. I like the nostalgic tone
what are you into generally?
I guess a lot of things, I like ska music and am into punk rock. Some modern stuff, but a lot of the artists I like are dead. But then again, it’s all over the place. Streetlight Manifesto, Sublime, Muse, Mad Caddies, Mumford and Sons, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Beatles, and some piano music, to name a few. And now Eve, I guess.
I’d be sorry, but Eve really deserves more fans. I’m glad you like his music! It’s relaxing listening to his music because it’s just like you said: “such a good vibe”. Different, but in a way that sticks in your head and makes you want to listen to it again.
