Yuri!!! on Ice ep 1-3
This show so good I couldn’t stop after just one episode. Voice actors did a great job. And I learned new words even: 寒波 (cold wave) and 振り付け (choreography).
And “das vidanya” lmao

Day 10
Two recipe videos from Quartet, one about nikujaga, and one about okonomiyaki.
New words:

青のり - dried green seaweed

I looove okonomiyaki (the ones with cabbage) Are they difficult to cook ?
It didn’t look difficult at all. He just shredded the cabbage, then fried it into a patty shape and added bacon

Boys Over Flowers (JP) Ep. 1 | +46:20 | 46:20/35:00 | casual |
Wanted to take a break from vocabulary and picked up this 初詣 video from one of my favorite listening channels! She mentioned going to the theater to see Godzilla Minus One and the ticket price was 4700円 But I guess it was a very luxurious experience…? ahaha
Her videos are always well-paced and she enunciates super clearly, so I used it as an opportunity to do some shadowing as well.
And then I stumbled onto the Rakuten Viki streaming service to see which J-Dramas they had and almost choked when I saw Boys Over Flowers available for free viewing lol. I watched the entire Korean version like a decade ago and it left an impression on me bahaha so I couldn’t pass the Japanese version up! I can’t say I like the Japanese F4 cast more than the Korean F4 so far but I’ll give them a chance
See you tomorrow! ٩(。•́‿•̀。)۶
I just finished the first episode of The Fake Couple/ Fake Marriage [偽装の夫婦] on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed it. I could understand maybe about 75-80%. It doesn’t have a good score on mydramalist so I hope it continues well.
This sounds fun and right up my alley! Thanks for recommending it, I’ll give it a try
Let me know what you think.
2nd episode completed and loving it. I usually read spoilers but resisting because half the fun is not knowing how it will turn out.
Are you watching with or without subtitles in English / your native tongue?
I’m super looking forward to watching it now First episode planned for tonight!

Yuri!!! on Ice ep 4
Explanations about competition was kind of fast paced and technical, didn’t understand all of it.
Also didn’t know ウミネコ = seagull! (I knew カモメ because of Haikyuu.) Maybe weird to say I love seagulls, but there’s a sentimental value from having grown up on a tiny island surrounded by them seabirbs that makes me happy when I see them. Just look at this bewinged two-legged seablob, isn’t it cute
Today went pretty well, got about 60 mins in.

Re-listened to #5 from yesterday but as fast as I could while still comprehending. Listened to #8 and got thru the entire thing in 20mins understanding all of it. Only got halfway through #13 though; my concentration was really falling apart at the 50min mark, so at 60 mins I decided to let it go for the day.

日本の1年「12月」 A N5 reading about japanese traditions around christmas and the new year
Not feeling well today, so even if I watched episodes of the Apothecary Diary, I can’t really count them as a listening practice
Day 10 and 11
1 episode from JapanesePod101 each day steadily progressing.
Learned a new vocab: おじゃまします
Time for a well needed rest as for tomorrow a big day planned.

More episodes today. The last one I listened to was Shun talking about the experience of Japanese people living abroad. It’s the kind of topic I’d be interested in in more detail than the treatment filtered through my level of Japanese listening capability allows for now I guess there’s Sora the Troll for some of that.
I’m watching with Japanese subtitles.
Hope you enjoy.
Day 11
This video telling the story of the three little pigs. Sakura Tips episodes 1-3, Japanese with Shun episode 1.
New words:
わら - straw
ケチ - stinginess

Boys Over Flowers (JP) Ep. 2 | +46:19 | 1:32:39 | casual |
I started with Boys Over Flowers today and it got me so heated Every time the main girl was getting bullied I was yelling at my screen “JUST HIT HIM, OH MY GOD!!” pffft
Anyway, this show has me reaching my casual listening quota very quickly ahaha
I also watched a super interesting investigation video about the JAL crash that was focused on how everyone aboard the commercial airline managed to survive and how they escaped the flight so fast. It’s really amazing how controlled the situation was inside the plane because the attendants were just doing a phenomenal job of crowd control and kept level heads despite the terrifying situation. Those ladies are heroes!!
It’s Friday!! See you tomorrow (´・ᴗ・ ` )

Getting to a batch of shorter episodes around now, nearly at episode 100. Probably should start finding some other listen-while-walking material though, as some of the episodes are getting a bit samey.
Random recommendation: Hoshimachi Suisei and Tadokoro Azusa Heikousen Scramble radio playlist. I listened to 5 episodes of this while doing a 2000 puzzle last summer (still not done), it was very enjoyable. There are 131 episodes, approx. 27~ish minutes each.
(Fans have uploaded subs in separate videos too.)
