Today’s vid:
Voice-over of a trip to Mt. Fuji during autumn. Listening went okay, I think I understood most of it, but then appeared the ultimate boss of all mumbly old guys.
Glad to hear that you’re finding the vids helpful!

Listened to a Spanish dubbed episode of Friends which randomly popped up on my youtube suggested videos and Ordering in Japanese from Daily Japanese with Naoko. I understood pretty much everything in the video! Maybe because that was the most common situation I found myself using Japanese while living in Japan.
Also had my italki classes for Japanese and Spanish yesterday and today respectively. Almost caught up to MNH grammar lessons where I had paused from last year and today’s Spanish class was purely conversational talking about home and music. My teacher also made listen to a emo/rock song in Spanish, which was fun.

Comprehensible Japanese intermediate and Nihongo-learning beginner. The topics in Comprehensible Japanese have become somewhat boring…
oh, that explains it I just had that confusion recently reading something
Today’s listening:
E-bike adventures. This was a bit hard to follow as the audio seemed a bit muffled/quiet at times, but I managed to mostly follow along. It was helpful though that there wasn’t just one person speaking all the time, even if it was difficult trying to follow everyone’s different speaking patterns.

Last two days bring two more episodes of Japanese from Small Talk, and remove one of the gaps in my listening progress to make the chart in my log table nicer

Comprehensible Japanese, Nihongo-learning, いろいろな日本語, Daily Japanese with Naoko, Terrace House
I always listen every day for 2 hours or so but never post because it’s just native podcasts but last night I went to a get-together with 99 % of Japanese spoken, for about 3 hours and I understood what was being said (80%). I am so proud of myself because I was so lost last year when I visited, and the conversation had to be either translated, glossed over, or they used single English words.
I unfortunately didn’t speak in Japanese for more than 5 sentences but progress.

Today I listened to Spanish Duolingo podcast titled “En el camino”. I also got some extra listening in yesterday of the previous episode titled “Helen Brown” while driving. Both stories were quite interesting and had a common topic of travelling.
I also listened to Comprehensible Japanese - Beginner Japanese, which I discovered this thanks to @hotdogsuplex ! I tried a few of the Complete Beginner videos but they were too 初歩的な for me. (I just relearned that kanji!) The first story from the Beginner Japanese playlist was the うさぎとかめ which was fairly easy for me to understand thanks to the clear and slow narration and the drawings. I found her 2nd drawing of the turtle kind of looked like a tick though.

It’s not jp listening, but I finally decided to get pocketcasts set up on my phone. I haven’t listened to any of my podcasts since I cancelled spotify last fall. I’ll have to look into finding some japanese podcasts on here, but in the meantime I listened to another handful of episodes from the history of japan podcast and finished off his russo-japanese war series. I’d already heard most of this from the russo side on mike duncan’s revolutions series, but it was fun to get more perspective. I already see ゆる言語学ラジオ, but that sounds like a challenge with no visual aid

I listened to the accompanying voice over for Week 6 and Week 7 of the ABBC for Ruri Dragon and another story from Comprehensible Japanese - Beginner Japanese titled 3匹の子豚. The next video in the playlist is about karaoke so I’m pretty excited about that. I’m also really enjoying the voice over for Ruri Dragon. The voice actors are so good and the background music for every scene is perfect.

So basically just to tick the box while away from home, I listened to two more episodes of Shun. I think I’m now going to officially retire Shun from my list of podcasts as I’ve now moved beyond that level of podcast. Technically there is another 70 or so episodes, but sometimes when hiring, we talk about “10 years of experience, or the same year of experience 10 times”, and it feels Shun’s podcast has got to that stage for me. Still, it was very useful in getting to that stage, so I can still recommend it to listening beginners.
