I finished chapter 4 today. I’ve read half of it yesterday, the other half today. If I can make it through chapter 5 until Friday, I might change my vote to “will definitely let me catch up” (if the poll is not closed by then)

I’m saving a deeper understanding readthrough for if/when there’s a Repeat Repeat Club. Been able to zoom through if I don’t focus on grammar and just go for a general understanding. Shotgun approach helps me consume the book at what I feel is appropriate for my current level. In the second half of Ch. 6 and I should be able to slap down the ~25 pages that I’m behind.
I really should’ve stuck to the 2 pages a night cadence rather than try and load them all on a fewer number of days.

Decision: we will take a one-week break
Okay, looking at the results, I think it would be worth trying a break.
That means this upcoming week we will not move on to chapter 8 - new discussions will start up again on 3rd October. I’ll adjust the table in the OP.
If you are behind, I really encourage you to try to catch up with this opportunity if you can, just because it can be so much more motivating, and the discussion so much more fruitful, when you’re reading in parallel with the group. There’s absolutely no pressure on anybody though, regardless of what you voted.
(as I mentioned before, the chapters get a bit shorter from here, especially 9 and 10, so you might be able to make further grounds then / are more likely to stay with the group)
If nothing else, this will provide more data when considering this kind of thing in future clubs!

Oh, somehow I completely missed this. Well, while I’m not behind on reading, this will give me a chance to catch up on pre-studying the vocab, I suppose. Maybe I’ll use the time to catch up on that One Piece book club.

That’s great, I’ve got 4 pages left of chapter 6 and a day off tomorrow so I’m hoping I can finish it and start chapter 7.

Just to clarify as well, taking a break doesn’t mean the club is taking a break / people can’t discuss the text. If anything it’s the perfect opportunity to ask further questions.

Alrighty, I also finished chapter 5. 
It was harder than chapter 4 because I don’t think (or don’t remember) the chapter 5 plot being in the movie whereas chapter 4 definitely was (albeit with differences). On top of that, no summaries anymore 
. That really was a big help for all the other chapters! Thanks to @Kyasurin!
I will try to read through the chapter 5 thread while on the road this weekend and hopefully catch some more details. I don’t think I will have the time to re-read chapter 5 at the moment, so that will have to do. I think I got the ghist of it and I want to focus on reading chapters 6 and 7 next week, so that I can hopefully (finally!) read with the club from chapter 8 onwards.

I just finished chapter 7 and wanted to check if I was on par with the group now (wasn’t sure if Chapter 8 started this week or last)
Well I am now all caught up, and though I missed the polls a break would certainly not hurt!
I have so many reviews coming up this week (I’m in leach hell) so I would have less time to focus on that.
Now I only need to catch up on Harry Potter (They start Chapter 3 now, I have yet to begin on chapter 2 XD )

I don’t mind because I’ve read chapter 6 today and it looks like I will read (and finish) chapter 7 tomorrow, at the right time for the chapter 8 then if the starting post is published in the chapter 8 thread tomorrow.

Whew, cutting it close but I’m finally caught up! 
Now to stick to a minimum of two pages a day haha. Deciding to not look up every single word I didn’t know shaved a lot of time off my reading. Thankfully, context clues, the vocab guide, and kanji knowledge helped me a ton. Even then, my continued studying helped strengthen my Japanese and it was really gratifying to be able to read entire paragraphs without needing to look at the guide.
Still had to rely on the English version to double check my answers, but hey, I’m happy with the way I progressed.
