Am I the only one still reading this book? Where is everybody? :crying_cat:

I’ve finished chapter 3! I am so sorry I have been MIA…to be honest, my cat ran away a few weeks ago and I spend a lot of my day putting up posters after work/ looking for him.

Let me make some more posts and drum up interest again. We had some great posts a few weeks ago, I imagine we all got a little busy? Let’s re-commit to the book!

I read up to chapter 3 during the readathon, so have been waiting for the club to catch up. I’ll probably read both halves of chapter 4 together next week.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your cat. Hope you find him soon. :sparkles:

Sorry for the lack of interaction, when there wasn’t much conversation in the first two weeks I kind of thought the book club had fizzled out.

Honestly though, I’ve overcommitted myself between three WK clubs (including this one) and prepping for the N4 in December (top priority). I’ve been thinking about officially dropping out, but I’m not quite there yet, I’m going to give myself one more week and do my best to catch up so I can actively participate with y’all!

I checked earlier to see how much time I had until we started the next chapter and discovered it was today :face_with_peeking_eye: Catching-up time!

I didn’t mean to give up but if I don’t get clear weekly threads I just lose track, I have too much going on at the moment… I’ll just read at my own pace and revisit the threads afterwards.

Overcommitted and couldn’t catch back up. Studying hard for the N4 is too much of a priority right now. Sorry :frowning:

I thought I was wayyyyy behind but looking at the schedule I’m right on track for finishing chapter 4 by the end of the week

Kiki is a bit too much at my current reading level. I’m not giving up, exactly, but more slowing the pace to focus on improving comprehension. Looking forward to the remainder of the adventure!

I’m same as simias and kette, I kept forgetting the book was still going + couldn’t keep up the pace so I’ll read it at my own pace and revisit the threads as I go

I made it through chapter 6. So painful. So ironic that I would have an easier time if it used more kanji. :weary_cat:

Hi all,

I wanted to say, I’m very sorry for disappearing. With work and my cat’s disappearance, it was hard to keep up with the book club and I let it fizzle instead of just coming on and asking if anyone wanted to take over.

So better late than never (and sorry again), but would anyone like to take this over? I’m probably going to read Kiki myself at a later date or maybe rejoin in a few weeks, but I think the leader of the group should be someone committed to reading at the pace.

In better news….I found my cat!! He was gone for 6 weeks but he is back home and he and his sister are so cute playing and grooming each other again.

cat tax

So happy for your cat!

No opinion on the club, I’m already taking behind everywhere…

6 weeks?! That must have been rough, I was absolutely distraught when one of my cats went missing for a day after getting back from a funeral (she then reappeared the next morning as if nothing had happened)

it was rough! i spent a lot of the first week sleeping in shifts with my husband making sure one of us was always up in case our camera caught motion, but it got better once we got a few traps

he never did come home on his own the dumb dumb :joy::joy:we had posters on highways for miles and a lady 2 miles away texted us and was like “yo is this your cat?” and sure enough!

anyway pro tip guys, posters. posters in mailboxes, signs on highways, signs at gas stations. just posters everywhere

Good work h00man. Sometimes the call of freedom becomes too great to resist for us cats but the comforts of domestic life are still the best. :joy_cat:

So glad you found your cat!! And ack, he’s so cute!

Anybody still reading? I’m on chapter 10 now. It feels like it’s gotten a smidgen easier.
