Discussion Guidelines
Everybody should feel free to post and ask questions–it’s what makes book clubs fun! But please do not post until you are familiar with Spoiler Courtesy!
Spoiler Courtesy
Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.
Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
Any information from later in the book than the current week’s reading (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.
Instructions for Spoiler Tags
Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labelled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1, Pg. 1”]).
Hide Details results in the dropdown box like below:
Example
This is an example of the “Hide Details” option.
The “Blur Spoiler” option will simply blur the text it surrounds.

Posting Advice
When asking for help, please mention the page number, and check before posting that your question hasn’t already been asked. As the threads get longer, it becomes more convenient to use the Search function, which is located in the upper right corner of the forum. It is the magnifying glass which is near your profile picture! The best way to search is usually to type part of the sentence you are confused about, and select “in this topic”. This will show you all posts within the current thread which has that string of text.
Be sure to join the conversation! It’s fun, and it’s what keeps these book clubs lively! There’s no such thing as a stupid question! We are all learning here, and if the question has crossed your mind, there’s a very good chance it has crossed somebody else’s also! Asking and answering questions is a great learning opportunity for everyone involved, so never hesitate to do so!
If necessary, include an explanation of any discrepancies in the Ebook page numbers from physical page numbers. If there is an easy shortcut for some ebook versions to relate back to physical page numbers, it would be worth it to include it as a third bullet here, or if you want to use chapter page numbers instead of volume page numbers, as is the case with some manga. For example:
Example
For the Kindle version of this manga, the page numbers and the location number are always 3 apart. If you subtract 3 from the location, this will give you the accurate page number!
OR
Please use the chapter page numbers, instead of the volume page numbers. These are located in between the panels!

I read some of the entries that seemed immediately quest relevant, and learned 炭化水素 (hydrocarbon). I uuuh, might come back to the rest of it another day Thankfully the text is much easier to read on a 21" monitor, even in red.
I honestly kinda forgot to start this week when I normally would cause I’ve been pretty down/stressed recently, but I’m here now.
I just finished reading the things on the computer. I won’t promise it all sunk into my head through some technical jargon (compounds that anywhere more casually would definitely be avoided, like we mentioned) and my brain tending to bounce off world building place and people names hard, but I read all the history and science stuff. Was looking up a lot though; almost got 30 new words out of that so oof. It was also the chance to re-encounter some low use words I’d mined before at least.
It’s cool that they have this much detailed information here anyway; I liked learning about the development of the planes and what a big deal that was, the use of this technology in the war and weaponry, etc. Lots of love put into this stuff.
Favorite quest this week has to be 禁煙強化週間 because Antoine gets his time to shine. I referenced Daisoujou’s screenshots to understand what he was saying, but still struggled to understand was why he was seeking out the smoky smell while telling us to be cautious. You run from fire, Antoine, not towards it! My Japanese is ok but clearly I still have a long way to go in cat language.
Now that we’ve gotten more battle experience with her, I have to say I love ティータ so much. The huge aoe smoke cannon blinds enemies very consistently and does decent damage on top, it trivialized almost every big group fight. I gave her some HP quartz for survival and that +2 range accessory you find on the plains road so she can shoot from as far back as possible. クローゼ and Olivier were good but… Can we take ティータ with us when we leave this chapter? Pretty please?
I’m impressed. The funny thing is that I know that I can never be bothered to read these large infodumps even when I play a game in French or English, but when I’m playing in a language I know less well it feels like a skill issue.
This really wasn’t the week for me to be doing a bunch of side quests with multiple steps taking you everywhere – again not at all your fault, just bad timing cause my head is struggling with motivation or even the mental capacity to track what all I’m doing. Reading/listening to the Japanese on the whole feels less taxing than remembering how to get around and which quests are remaining that want me to go to which places which is… nice maybe? I haven’t finished them all but made a lot of progress.
Quick thoughts
I was gonna put the shoes specifically on Estelle cause she was so excited, but the game only lets you anyway. They’re a downgrade in stats from what she was previously wearing so nope, scrap this project.
The cat quest was definitely the best.
In my first fight using ティータ for the vehicle sidequest I got the worst RNG and just could not land blind while everything beat up on her so I almost wondered given how @Sasabonsam was talking if the rates had been messed with in my version, but then it started landing on almost every enemy every time after so just bad luck at the worst time I guess.
I still need to finish some stuff for the vehicle thing, what’s really looming over my head is going everywhere with the shoes and getting started on all the books. I’ll probably put off finishing that stuff til next time? It seems like the mine tunnel I passed up might be totally optional, maybe even the tower again, without even a side quest attached to them. Which is getting overwhelming for my slow brain right now but maybe I’ll get back to that stuff. I just need to boot it up tomorrow and finish the vehicle quest at least to feel done with this week.
Has anyone used ティータ’s S-Break yet? Love seeing her use that gun.
None, plot takes you almost everywhere, and the one place the plot skips the side quests have you covered.
ティータ’s blinding ability should have 100% chance on everything that isn’t immune to blind, provided she doesn’t miss the attack. So yeah, that’s some really bad RNG there.
Great to know about the optional stuff, thanks a lot. That’s a load off my mind for tracking some of those places.
Really? I’m pretty sure it has been hitting and occasionally not blinding enemies while blinding copies of them, so it doesn’t feel like 100%, though it does seem high. I could be mistaken but I’m pretty sure about that… I’ll keep an eye out in the future. Either way now that I’ve used it more it’s working often so yeah it’s great.
Also just a random addition, but I’ve been playing games where you scan enemies by pressing select recently and I keep wanting to check big enemies out of habit that way… leading to losing a couple turns autoattacking. I dunno if everyone’s version uses the same button but for mine, select speeds up the fight and spams basic attacks.
