There should be thirteen main quest bullet points in your 手帳, which fill the entire page. The last one should be telling you to look for Nial so you can talk to him. Don’t do that yet, that’s next week.
Side Quests
ベアズクローの調査
霧降り峡谷の手配魔獣
西ボース街道の手配魔獣
琥珀の塔の不審者
It doesn’t really matter whether you do these now or at the start of next week, but for the sake of my character calculations I’m leaving them for next week.

Discussion Guidelines
Everybody should feel free to post and ask questions–it’s what makes book clubs fun! But please do not post until you are familiar with Spoiler Courtesy!
Spoiler Courtesy
Please follow these rules to avoid inadvertent ネタバレ. If you’re unsure whether something should have a spoiler tag, err on the side of using one.
Any potential spoiler for the current week’s reading need only be covered by a spoiler tag. Predictions and conjecture made by somebody who has not read ahead still falls into this category.
Any potential spoilers for external sources need to be covered by a spoiler tag and include a label (outside of the spoiler tag) of what might be spoiled. These include but are not limited to: other book club picks, other books, games, movies, anime, etc. I recommend also tagging the severity of the spoiler (for example, I may still look at minor spoilers for something that I don’t intend to read soon).
Any information from later in the book than the current week’s reading (including trigger warnings that haven’t yet manifested) needs to be hidden by spoiler tags and labeled as coming from later sections.
Instructions for Spoiler Tags
Click the cog above the text box and use either the “Hide Details” or “Blur Spoiler” options. The text which says “This text will be hidden” should be replaced with what you are wishing to write. In the case of “Hide Details”, the section in the brackets that is labelled “Summary” can be replaced with whatever you like also (i.e, [details=”Chapter 1, Pg. 1”]).
Hide Details results in the dropdown box like below:
Example
This is an example of the “Hide Details” option.
The “Blur Spoiler” option will simply blur the text it surrounds.

Posting Advice
When asking for help, please mention the page number, and check before posting that your question hasn’t already been asked. As the threads get longer, it becomes more convenient to use the Search function, which is located in the upper right corner of the forum. It is the magnifying glass which is near your profile picture! The best way to search is usually to type part of the sentence you are confused about, and select “in this topic”. This will show you all posts within the current thread which has that string of text.
Be sure to join the conversation! It’s fun, and it’s what keeps these book clubs lively! There’s no such thing as a stupid question! We are all learning here, and if the question has crossed your mind, there’s a very good chance it has crossed somebody else’s also! Asking and answering questions is a great learning opportunity for everyone involved, so never hesitate to do so!
If necessary, include an explanation of any discrepancies in the Ebook page numbers from physical page numbers. If there is an easy shortcut for some ebook versions to relate back to physical page numbers, it would be worth it to include it as a third bullet here, or if you want to use chapter page numbers instead of volume page numbers, as is the case with some manga. For example:
Example
For the Kindle version of this manga, the page numbers and the location number are always 3 apart. If you subtract 3 from the location, this will give you the accurate page number!
OR
Please use the chapter page numbers, instead of the volume page numbers. These are located in between the panels!

Done! I grabbed the sidequests, but in keeping with how it’s written in the top post, I’ll save doing them for next time, too.
Spoilers
In retrospect, yeah, Estelle making it clear they are bracers is how that would go. I didn’t expect the outburst from Scherazard too, but I think I like that about her character. She’s in the mentor role to them but Joshua is probably the mature one, heh.
I DID like Olivier’s song! These people just don’t appreciate love and peace enough. I made sure to get in a few fights when he briefly joined, didn’t expect him to use a gun but it’s always funny to me in these types of RPGs when someone has a real gun and others are using whips and stuff.
So now we know the air pirates took credit for the heist. I still want to think there’s more to it – like I said before, they seemed troubled at around this same time. Did it just not quite go how they intended? Maybe they’re lying?
Now that the characters brought up how Cassius should be able to fend for himself, I guess there are two ways to take that. One, the more direct obvious path, is that the pirates are backed (controlled?) by a much stronger force, whether the empire they (hastily) ruled out or some other group. Using this sort of gang as cover is how good political scheming works. My wilder alternative thought is that the disappearance itself is part of a larger scheme we can’t know of, where for some reason Cassius is himself participating and the people onboard are less captured and more… hiding, I guess to protect the people or things on the ship from something? The pirates seemed pretty straightforwardly selfish in our brief run-in with them so it’s harder to imagine them working with Cassius or any other way to settle why they’d take credit, but I’m just letting my imagination run wild cause it’s fun to. We know Cassius has been called away for something important, so presumably what is happening now is in part intended to prevent him from doing it… or what’s happening right now IS what he was tasked with?
I’m excited to see Nial and the photographer again; I liked them during our last run in and the brief scene with the maid was pretty good.
I also liked Olivier’s song, that whole scene made me like him a lot more. It’s impossible for me to hate blonde guys with guns who promote 「ラブ&ピース」! The range the gun gives him makes him very helpful for speedy fights, too
The pirates might have something that convinced the army that they were the ones who took the airship and the people on it, but I’m very doubtful. When you speak to the old guy at the guild, the characters point out that this crime is much bigger in scale compared to all the other stuff the pirates have done until then. That’s in addition to the points made about Cassius and the forest sequence. My guess is the pirates are either outright lying to get cash or they’re being set up by the real culprits.
Any doubts about where Joshua is originally from were resolved with this bit
NPC things
I haven’t done the side quests yet, but have noticed some interesting NPC things happening.
ミラノ (businesswoman who was hanging around the bar in Rolent) lives in Bose and apparently, her dad is one of the people on the missing ship. Will be on the lookout for a dude named トリノ when we find the missing people. Several NPCs had something to say about them so I’m curious if one or both of them are going to play a part in the main story later.
Also, it seems like there was a hostile takeover over at the orbment workshop. The original owner is drowning his sorrows at the bar and the new owner seems like a jerk. I think they’re going to eventually flip positions, though, because the engineer upstairs is starting to complain about the newbie. Plus, someone that smug should get some comeuppance!
I am really enjoying reading everyone’s thoughts/theories on what’s happening with the plot. (It’s actually a little frustrating I really wanna type more like “ah, you were able to figure out A! Hooray!” or “oh, I see how B made you misinterpret things as being C when actually it’s going to be D.”)
I am so so SO happy that you’re making the effort to find and talk to everyone and discovering these plotlines and sharing them with everyone
I’m like Nial and Dorothy, looking for a juicy story and a picture to attach to it fr though, it’s fun to see how these little background stories develop!
Of course the arrogant, promiscuous, vapid character is given a French name. Of course.
I like that one of the side quests seems to be the continuation of the Rolent fetch quest in mistvald. I presume that if you missed the previous one you don’t get this one either?
Unfortunately I’m too busy lately and I don’t take the time to just explore everything and talk to everybody, I focus on the main quest and sub-quests…
Optional quest
I would definitely have missed it at least this week if you hadn’t pointed it out in the summary @RebBlue, having these indications every week is really welcome especially given how easy it is to miss optional content in this game.
The upper levels of the tower are pretty tricky, and it took me a few tries to get all the loot. I also finally unlocked the AT-delay move for Joshua somebody mentioned last week and it is very welcome, especially since it can target several enemies in a line and I always find that I’m lacking multi-opponent damaging abilities. I use and abuse Estelle’s whirlwind technique all over the place because it’s so great at dealing with mobs of week enemies.
I decided to leave the plant fetch quest and the mist valley quest for later because I presume that the plot will lead us there soon enough. Maybe I’ll reconsider later. I also assumed that the “wet place” where this plant would grow would be the mist valley, but maybe I’m mistaken.
Anyway I just left the tower and continued to the Valeria shores to chill out until next week.
BTW I realized that the 夢見る甲羅焼き can revive a party member and it only requires 魔獣の甲羅 to prepare which seems to be plentiful given that I have a bunch in my inventory.
