制作、製作、作成、作製、製造

All the ways to say manufacturing (that I know of)! Lately, I’ve been taking notes on words that have very similar meaning to each other and been looking into the differences. Fortunately I did manage to find this explaination. It does seem pretty in-depth, but I can only understand the gist of it because it is written entirely in Japanese.

Here’s what I do understand:
制作: creative works such as art, TV programs, and movies.
製作:everyday items?
作成: documents, writings, and (I’m not sure of this one) things that were planned?
作製: “machines” is pretty much the only one I could read here ;u;
製造: manufacturing of goods, particularly from raw materials

Can someone help me understand what it says? Thanks!

From what I can tell, your understanding of the article is pretty much spot-on. I’m sure Leebo is just around the corner though, he’ll likely have a more in-depth answer for you.

Looks good. 作成 can also be when you want to create a group in MMOs, create a lobby in games, etc.

That’s a relief! I just want to make sure I didn’t miss anything important haha

Thank you! I don’t think I would have ever come across that one in my day to day.

Yep, it’s also heavily used in computer related stuff.
