Welcome to the Volume 2 discussion thread for ロジカとラッカセイ ・ Rojica and Rakkasei!
We read volume 1 of ロジカとラッカセイ together with the Beginner Book Club. Lots of us liked it so much that we wanted to continue, and that’ll happen here.
Since we expect less activity in offshoot clubs, there won’t be any weekly threads - it’ll just be this thread, with a post by me every week when we’re transitioning to the next part.
All discussion will happen in this thread. I’ll make a post when a new reading week starts.

Pages are physical page numbers (they are printed on some pages). Ebook reader pages might be off by a bit.
Page offset on Amazon Kindle: Location - 3. E.g. location 28 is physical page 25.
Page offset on Bookwalker: Number in bar below - 2 (left) / - 3 (right). E.g. when the bar below shows 9, the left page is physical page 7, the right one physical page 6.
No. of pages with text is the amount of pages with more than one short sentence.
In case any of you have forgotten what kind of manga Rojica and Rakkasei is, the first chapter of volume 2 is here to remind you: Fun, whimsical, profoundly weird, and of course absolutely not disturbing at all.
Also, we finally met the ラッカセイ who gave us our club symbol!
Yay, ロジカ and ラッカセイ are back
I’ve really missed them. And now, after reading chapter 9, I don’t know how to feel haha. As always, as Tobias wrote, fun, weird and disturbing. At least here there was some explaination on why the 落花生 suddenly had a soul!
Also appreciating the no furigana, better practice for reading the kanji, it’s hard not to “cheat” when the furigana is here.
@TobiasW Suggestion for the vocab sheet, can it be by chapter (9, 10, etc) instead of by reading week? I think it would make looking words up easier, especially for people reading once the club is over
Hm lovely. I rushed through the first volume last week and made it just in time for the offshoot bookclub.
The writing on the little summoner’s backpack, is that the name of their school? If I were certain we’ll ever see him again, maybe I’d try harder to decipher the kanji.
Wow this one was kind of quick so I already started the next one oops. I decided to take a more relaxed approach and pretty much only bookmark the unknown words in the bookwalker app instead of writing everything out by hand. It’s too bad you can’t do the highlights because bookwalker doesn’t recognise manga as text… (weird considering half of their products are manga and it would be useful to have it)
Looked to me like it was on its way to getting fully digested by the end of the chapter. I wonder what’s going to happen to the summoned soul that inhabited it. Time for a reincarnation as a different vegetable when the summoning student botches his next homework assignment?
