I’ll be continuing from the previous thread and reading 新書太閤記 by 吉川英治, currently on Volume VI. Will also be throwing some bonus colours out each day while there’s still some left to get through in my book.
No doubt some other random thing will pop up at some point.
Yay, I’ve been waiting for this post to come up! Looking forward to start. I have been quite consistent in reading these last few months, but I’m curious about how my daily progress looks like. I’m starting on the 3rd, as I won’t be available this weekend
I haven’t really been reading much lately, but I’d like to get back into it! My goal in the next three months is to finish eight books (2 for each month, + 2 to make up for June since I didn’t really read then). I’ll be happy with six books though as long as I think I can still get to 24 books total by the end of the year.
I really like how the emoji calendars look so this time I’m trying it!
Since the last reading challenge was fun, I’m going to join once again. I feel like I improved quite a bit during the last challenge and I hope to continue this tendency the next few months.

and we’re back for another one! thanks again for hosting another thread windupbird! i’ve definitely noticed improvement over the past two challenges and am hoping to keep on that upward trend. looking forward to everyone’s update posts as usual, i’m always mining for new things to read
my main goals for this one are:
start and finish 逆転検事２…this may take the entire challenge, we’ll see…
keep up with the ouran reading club
if and when i finish 逆転検事 2, start on making a sizeable dent in my physical tbr. or any kind of dent, tbh, it’s getting a little unwieldy
do a fate episode in granblue every day until the challenge is over or i run out (whichever comes first)
read more nhk news articles/special features (aiming for one every weekday)
it’s kind of borderline reading practice, but i’ve been watching videos of the main story of the yakuza games recently (playing finished 0, watching the rest) and all of those have subtitles which i read along to. helpful, cos some of the characters talk like they’ve got a mouth full of gravel and it’s a pain.

逆転検事２
Hello again, everyone! I didn’t do the spring challenge (because I was in Japan!) but I bought lots of books, which I’ve been reading in May and June, so I’d like to continue reading them with the Read Every Day challenge for more accountability.
This is my second time participating in this and I hopefully plan to participate many more years down the line!
my plans
Last spring I somehow managed to finish 2 light novels which were adaptations of Chinozo vocaloid songs (Goodbye Sengen and Schema) and I plan to continue with them since there’s 2 more novels in the series.
First one is Elite which I read like 60 pages and gave up because I was very busy and lazy too. This time I also plan to take the JLPT test for N2 at the end of the year so I plan to start using Tae Kim book I bought and some Shin Kanzen books later too. But for now, I’ll just read some song-made-into-light-novels I bought (I also have いのちの食べ方) and kick back and relax. When it’s end of the July, I’ll start studying for JLPT seriously.
I’ll use my former format which I write a sentence or two in Japanese about the progress on the novel I read that day so that might help you get some reading even when you’re scrolling here lol. I also copied some things here from javerend and taiyousea so thank you.

there’s what now?? are they these? グッバイ宣言（MF文庫J）(ライトノベル)の電子書籍無料試し読みならBOOK☆WALKER oh man gotta check these out. I just keep reading and keep reading more stuff but somehow the to-read list never gets shorter…
Yay, I’m excited to join in for the first time! I’ve been reading daily already for the past while, so this won’t be too much of a change in pace, but I thought it’d be interesting to keep track and then look back after a few months. And from lurking a little in the past thread, it seems like everyone here’s really nice.
I’m currently reading through several manga series.
This is my first time posting on this site, but I have lurked for quite awhile around the book clubs. My progress has been gradual, but I think I am finally ready to give the Absolute Beginner Book Club a try in August! As such, I am very excited to begin working toward that goal alongside all of you.
Books:
Crystal Hunter (Natural): Completed five volumes
The Wolf of the Small Forest: (10%)
When Will Ayumu Make His Move?: (10%)
I want to spend most of July reading through Crystal Hunters to hopefully build up both my confidence and my ability to read in Japanese. The books look interesting, and I believe they will be a good first step. Around the end of July, or perhaps the start of August, I want to take the plunge and begin reading native manga. I am extremely nervous jumping into native material, but it will be a good experience for Horimiya on the 26th.
So today I read chapter 3 of ふらいんぐうぃっち I had this manga in my library since last year and didn’t continue in forever, so this challenge already had a benefit now! I also learned a lot of new words, some including:
なまり - accent
きつい - hard
じょうろ - watering can
つぐ (継ぐ) - to inherit
めぐまれる - to be blessed with
ボーボー - fiercely, wild
新米 - new rice, novice
キジ - pheasant
せっかい - lime
すっかり - completely
Read ~10 pages of さくらいろの季節 today! It’s from the same publisher as the last novel I read and similarly school-themed, so here’s hoping I see some overlap in the vocab.
Some new words for the day:
写生（しゃせい）- sketching, drawing from life
敷地（しきち）- grounds, site, lot
繊細（せんさい）- dainty, delicate
へっちゃら - cool, composed, calm
So far it’s a cute story! Definitely some similar themes to what I’ve previously read, but the protagonist seems to be a lot more likable than in the last book I read, so that’s something.
did a light read today, just the one 20 minute section of kiwami 2 (which, admittedly, was a little light on text in places) and one fate episode, セン’s first one. was probably the easiest thing i’ve read in granblue, closest thing to textbook japanese i’ve seen in a while.
it’s the jlpt tomorrow, so i’ll probably not update again til monday (lots of travelling ). good luck to anyone else taking it!!
Hey everyone! Once again I’ll just be here, trying to keep up with regular posts… I’ve admittedly kind of lost my initiative to learn but I enjoy reading and I enjoy making these posts so I’ll keep going for as long as I can!

声優ラジオのウラオモテ - light novel series about a pair of mutually antagonistic high school students who live double lives as aspiring 声優.
Monkeys!¡ - visual novel about a delinquent boy who has chosen to masquerade as a girl in a female-only school for the posh and genteel in order to save his own.
My aim this time around is to just finish the latter at a decent pace… I’ve been stalling on it for too long…
