I think what I was remembering was そういうわけにはいかない, which according to this HiNative answer means something like:
意味は「それはだめだ」「それは違う」と似ています。
So, it looks like it can both mean “that’s no good” (the meaning I remembered) or something like “that’s not right”. If this phrase has similar meaning to the one that Ruri used, which I think may be reasonable to assume given how similar they are, I think that second definition is similar to what you are describing. And yeah, I think you’re right that that makes more sense.
so I’m not sure you can base a general idea of いかない meaning “that’s no good” on that. The same monolingual dictionary that listed the meaning of いかない also had a separate listing for that construction:
《「わけには─」の形で》…できない。…することが許されない。
So that makes me think it’s something that only applies in that usage.

I genuinely can’t find anything to help me out on this. I can’t imagine Ruri’s mother is telling her to not eat lunch. Or is it that she’s saying that Ruri already ate at lunch? The 食べな食べな is really throwing me off.
Apparently I accidently read to page 78. Dang this manga for hardly having any page numbers. I was wondering why no one had asked questions about those last pages yet.

I take it to mean “cutting”, like “wow, that was crude”, or it’s used to say that something is finished completely so maybe “… and now it’s over mom, stop talking about poop”
I translated some of this page as best I could (of course feel free to make corrections, always appreciated)
Mom: Normal burns don’t heal in 2 days…
Ruri: I see
Mom: Ruri, by the way… Did you breathe fire since then?
Ruri: Hm? Uhh…
No, it won’t come.
Ruri: It doesn’t happen when I sneeze either.
I wonder what it was [that caused the fire breathing that first time (?)]
Ruri: Well… If it doesn’t happen anymore, isn’t that good?
Mom: No… That’s bad

My thoughts on this section so far (up to pg 66)
At least to me, this section feels really tedious for some reason, more than the previous ones. I don’t know if this week is just text-heavy, or maybe it’s because the past 2 weeks have had a lot of exciting developments and this chapter is kinda dealing with the after-effects of them? Though, I’m only on page 66 so maybe it will start to pick up soon!
It is a difficult part. And I have a small suspicion, that some parts were made to be kinda difficult and old timey on purpose. But you aren’t there yet, so no more spoilers
I actually think the だって indicates that the mom is quoting the dragon. The quote is “You humans also expel things, right? Like excrement”. Then Ruri replies, basically saying “gross”.
I believe this is きたない … the small tsu adds emphasis (like saying “groooooss”), and ない becoming ね is a standard slangy/colloquial thing.
page 70, second panel (answer/question)

This one had me confused. I think maybe she’s quoting herself? So … “[I was like] don’t just prattle uselessly” and then “I lost my temper and made a mess” with making a mess probably being used in a more metaphorical way. Like, she’s not saying “I lost my temper so I scattered some rocks around (at his head)” she’s saying “I lost my temper so I THREW A ROCK AT HIS HEAD (made a mess of things)”.
The way I see it it’s essentially an extension of Ruri’s earlier talk with her mother about how she’s pretty much human for the most part, so it’s something like “what the hell is human about this?” - seeing as breathing fire after eating is not something humans tend to do
