ドラゴンボールSD (Dragon Ball SD) · Volume 6 Discussion 🐉

I read it as potential.

I didn’t recognise this one. Googling this isn’t going to take me to what I’m looking for…

動かれる comes from 動く though, right? Wouldn’t the potential be 動ける?

Oops, I was talking about あてられない! Regarding うごかれちゃ - “when you are inconvenienced by something somebody else has done, you can express your dissatisfaction using the passive tense”. Could that explain it here - is it because Kuririn is being inconvenienced by the moving round? I’ve never really got my head around this tense.

Ahhh that makes total sense! I often forget about that usage. I think CureDolly explained it like: ‘I got my suitcase stolen’. That made it click for me (like how Japanese verbs can be ‘passive’ but also have a direct object).

No particular questions from me. A harder week’s reading, I had to get my phone out to take a photo of the page a couple of times so I could zoom in on the text though!

I thought a good end to a long battle arc. I was a little surprised at the penis on face scene but I think we’ve established the striking differences in cultural sensitivities!

I thought it was hilarious :joy: I compared it to the original, and I see they handled it differently there:

Does seem like the additions that SD makes to the original are all either meta-jokes or toilet humour
