There was a lot of dialogue in this chapter. But it seems much easier to read than it used to, hopefully a sign I am slowly getting better at reading this!
O man, I had reeeaaally forgotten what was going on! I had that with Shimeji Simulation too. Maybe I should stop reading ongoing manga and stick to completed series?
Just reminding myself of the dragon abilities. Shenron can only grant one wish at a time with a year cool down period. He can bring multiple people back to life in one wish but can only bring an individual back to life once.
Porunga can grant 3 wishes at a time, I don’t think we know what his cool down period is yet, but he can only bring one person back to life with a single wish.
Chapter 90
Surprisingly light on dialogue! Sat down to read this with a cup of tea and was finished a few mins later!
I like the extra panels - the mangaka is going to have to make 2-3 minutes last several months (maybe we won’t get to the end of this saga this volume!).
The comment about Toriyama having to work for the next 50 years to please Mr Popo was funny, but very poignant given he died a few months after this chapter was published.
Two interesting parts caught my attention in this chapter:
この世で だれも 超えるはずのない じぶん(ふり-ざ)を超える者があらわれてしまった…
My translation for this was: The guy ended up appearing, one who surpasses you, the one who should not have been surpassed by anyone from this world…
しかも そいつはた・か・が・サイヤ人だった…
And it was moreover nothing else but a saiyajin…
Always find it interesting when furigana is used to clarify terms rather than provide their spelling. Nice come back from Goku here.
Also,
I don’t quite get the reason Krillin here is unimpressed. I think it comes from the だとはな… part, but it’s unclear to me how Goku is explaining he’s over this disc techinque.
I thought he was unimpressed as Frieza is now on full power but uses a technique that is essentially the same as Krillen’s 気円斬. It’s quite an impressive technique that is capable of damaging an enemy much stronger than you, but basically Frieza’s is the same as Krillen’s except a different colour (and with the chasing mechanic).

Read chapter 93 this morning. Love the colours again, especially those red backgrounds in the last few pages.
Third page of the chapter, struggled to figure out ムーリ until I realised it’s the name of the person he’s speaking to.
We are through 5 out of the 9 chapters but I’m only about halfway through my physical volume. Looked towards the end and realised the special chapter after chapter 97 is quite long, a bit longer than the average chapter in fact. So one more week left than I was expecting!
