Half of their teams are ready for resurrection, and considering the state of bodies - with black magic.
Well, I’m very sad for the Ninjas, they died horrible deaths, specially the mom figure to Shuro. Quite the gruesome chapter, I wonder how it will go from here
I’m rereading last week’s chapter because I think I was reading but not understanding anything. I feel like it’s going better now. Still have a few questions:

Shuro (シュロー Shurō?) is a former member of the Touden siblings’ party. His real name is Toshiro Nakamoto (半本 俊朗 Nakamoto Toshirō?).
Also note the “今ここ” written at the top of the portrait that confirms it’s him.

Chapter 36
Personally I would interpret it just as a relatively light-hearted way of conveying the racism/classism that make it difficult for a character like that entrenched in and with responsibility over a noble family to wholly embrace this professed romance from their heir. In the conversation with Senshi about whether she intends to get Shuro to give up Falin or not, Maizuru (the mother figure - had to look up her name in the world guide…) had come to acknowledge that she does love Shuro enough to be moved to help him, and just before the painting gag is contemplating the idea of (depending on how things go) accepting his feelings and at least recommending Falin as his bride (or at least that’s how I’m interpreting ことと成り行き次第では口添えしてもいいのかもしれんな… not knowing exactly how marriages work in this family - I assume the 口添え would be received by family elders or something who would have say in that kind of a decision?).
The painting gag then cuts that tension and leaves the conclusion at that “hey, maybe” by reminding that it’s not so straightforward for such a bride to be accepted in this kind of a family and it would still be a big to-do. I would say that it’s placed there to suggest that the other characters listening in heard Maizuru at least suggest that maybe she could come around to accepting the Falin idea and then they imagined that jarring change in the line of portraits themselves. Maizuru might genuinely care for Shuro enough to consider it - but it would still be a scandalous idea to most everyone involved in the family.
Also I think this is explored in an omake later but re Shuro’s name

His correct name is としろう but Laos fucked up the pronounciation the first time they met and it unfortunately stuck

I struggle to read the handwriting at the bottom of p70, is it ノームが地の精霊から出てきた? Not sure about the 精霊 part, it’s very blurry on bookwalker…
Yep, with the furigana ノーム over 地の精霊. That character uses elemental spirits (like the pet undine, most prominently, but the world guide claims four types) so that rock egg thing is presumably an actual earth spirit (named エシエ for whatever reason) and Marcille seeing it happens to blurt out this contrived little joke or pun that popped into her head at the strange sight, mixing the main western fantasy RPG concept of a gnome like the character is, with these earth elementals apparently also being called “gnome” based off of the older association of “gnome” as an earth sprite or elemental (in the same way that ‘undine’ is an existing name for a water spirit used for this specific kind of elemental in the series).
I feel like the joke is probably a stretch in Japanese and likely doesn’t work at all as-is in English where “gnome” probably has much stronger associations in the first place, so I wonder how they translated it. Looking around, it looks like like they probably used “earth gnome” for the earth spirit in English, which I suppose is a good way of going around the furigana thing, though it still feels like a weird little worldbuilding detail to pack into a tiny line like this.
(In any case, none of this particularly matters, and it’s a silly throwaway line)
“A gnome from a gnome”, is Yen Press’ translation, with a note at the back of the book saying “According to the theory of the alchemist Paracelsus, gnomes are elemental spirits that inhabit the earth, so the “essiet” employed by Holm is the spirit type of “gnome”.”.
Oof, ok, thanks I would never have gotten that. I think I would call that a golem maybe, certainly not a gnome.
I played enough Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and 3 growing up that if I were writing the series probably these undines and “gnomes” wouldn’t be able to end up with any other name than the less creative “water elementals” and “earth elementals.” 
By the way there’s another thing I didn’t quite understand:

I think she’s accusing him of resuscitating her first so that she would feel indebted to him (which seems like a weird accusation, given the circumstances I think it makes complete sense to resuscitate healers first?)
The 2nd part I don’t get at all. Is she saying that he’s really looking for a different kind of 術? Different from what?
Or is she saying that she doesn’t like to perform this type of magic? She’s the one who 目当て a different type of technique?
The topic is dropped immediately so I have no idea what the implications are.

I would say that she’s just saying she’s not really a healer. Like Kabru prioritized resurrecting her since she seemed like a powerful mage and that she might know healing magic, and she’s saying that that’s not really her specialty (so indeed she doesn’t quite match Kabru’s 目当て) but she’s indebted so she’ll help in what way she can.
Kind of like Marcille (or Laois barely), she probably knows maybe some healing magic but she’s not like, a “healer” like Falin or Holm I would say. (But she does seem good at taking care of problems and coordinating care so it was probably a good idea to prioritize resurrecting her anyway).
